Willkie South is definitely a mixed bag when it comes to freshman housing. The pros of the dorm is the space and layout of the room - having your own room with a full sized closet and a shared bathroom (shower included) was a major plus. It is especially nice when you like your roommate, as we always had our doors open and it felt like a jack and jill layout. The cons, however, outweigh the spaciousness in my opinion. The location is super far from everything and expect to walk 20+ minutes to every one of your classes. I would have to walk about 8 miles daily just to go to my classes. The dorm community was super quiet and not social at all, so if you are looking for a fun group of people on your floor, do not go looking for it here. Me and my roommate tried to get our floor to be social, but as the year progressed many people just closed their doors and minded their business. If your major goal is to have the best room possible as a freshman, this is definitely your best option. However, if you are a social person looking for a welcoming environment, this place will be draining on your wellbeing as you feel extremely disconnected from the students who go here.
