Piney Woods Hall Dorm Reviews at Sam Houston State University

The Piney Woods dorms are designed so that every person living there shares a room with one other person and the washroom is shared with another room. If you're not used to sleeping in the same room as a stranger, the first day will have you feeling awkward. It becomes normal after the first few days of getting to know your roommate and suitemates. You'll find a kind of lounge at the end of the halls where you can hang out with your new friends at any time be it in the morning or late at night.

Piney Woods is at an extremely convenient location. It is placed right next to campus making it only about a 5-7 minute walk to class. The cafeteria is also placed right next to Piney, it's a 1-minute walk at most. You share your room with one other person but still have a decent amount of space. The bathroom space is shared with 2 other people. The bathroom connects it with those 2 other people making them your suitemates. In the bathroom there is cabinet space and storage space for your essentials. There is a door you can actually go into and lock that leads you to the toilet. The RA's are always including the students in events and keeping you updated as well.

Overall Piney Woods Hall is a really good dorm hall as it's incredibly spacious, the dorm itself is quite clean, the bathroom and rooms are spacious (easily managable to clean) and the noise level is great. Whenever there is an issue in the dorm, such as an elevator not working, it is fixed really fast.

Since living at Piney woods i have met life long friends and have had some of my best college experiences of my college career in my dorm and with the friends i have made their. it is truly an amazing experience and would definitely recommend people consider piney woods as a future home.

I recently went to do measurements and it was really beautiful and they had everything you could possibly need. They came with a good size fridge and a pretty big bathroom and even though it's a shared one it still was pretty clean and a decent size

My experience was pretty pleasant. There wasn't much to complain about, my roommates and I were pretty clean. So there was not much to be picky about. The main issue would simply be parking, The closest parking is 15 minutes away.

Piney woods was no doubt the newest and cleanest of all dorms on campus, and thus I recommend it highly to new freshman. Additionally, it was a very short 5 min walk to both campus and the dining hall, which is another reason it's perfect for first time students. On the other hand, the maintenance was somewhat questionable and I felt that getting assistance with maintenance issues was somewhat difficult.

I enjoyed my time in piney woods hall and I believe it’s a great dorm for 1st years. The common areas are kept clean and the most of the time it’s quiet In the halls unless their are some passerby’s.

Piney Woods is good for incoming freshmen who are new to the campus. It is close to a dining hall and has multiple parking lots nearby. Classes and the student center is within a 10-minute walk. On the ground floor of the dorm, there are computer labs with free printing and study rooms with locks on each floor.

Overall I really enjoyed my experience at Piney Woods Hall. My only real gripe is with the cleanliness of the stairwells and hallways, but mostly the stairwells. Trash would sit there for weeks, and a few things have been in there for the whole year I lived in the dorm.

It was my first year at Piney woods hall and I feel like the dorm is a nice and all but our restroom got constant maintenance.overall I think piney woods is great for first years and when I arrived the first day it was clean and well kept.

This is my first time staying in Piney Woods hall this year. Due to Covid-19, things have been different since everyone has to wear masks and have to distance things felt a bit different socially. The layout of the dorm is simple, and it is very close to one of the dining halls.

Overall piney is a really good dorm hall. There is quite a bit of space, the bathroom is spacious, and the dorm itself is kept really clean. Whenever there is an issue in the dorm, such as an elevator not working, it is fixed really fast. The only issues are that the showers are pretty tiny and the walls are a little thin.

I had a great experience, lived there for four semesters and never had a problem with staff or building issues. I had a maintenance issue with the blinds and they fixed it super quick within two hours.

It had a lot of problems when I first moved in because it was brand new and had to be hastily built. It has since fixed most of the problems that it had. It is probably the second best dorm on campus now with Raven being the best.

I absolutely love Piney Woods! I moved in this semester and I have the most amazing Suite mates. I don’t currently have a roommate but I hope I get one soon to share my amazing room with! There is a lot of space for my stuff and it even comes with a full sized fridge and microwave. It’s the best!

I much prefer Piney Woods Hall as compared to the last dorm building I stayed in. My room in this dorm is more spacious in both the bedroom and bathroom areas. This resident hall also offers more such as study rooms, a computer lab, and a better laundry room.

My first impression after moving in was that it was very spacious and clean. The maintenance men fixed our lights and blinds in a span of one day. They were also really nice and told us that we could contact them again to fix anything.

Piney Woods contain their own computer labs equipped with computers and printers for free. The are multiple study rooms on each floor if you need a quiet place to study or take a test. The dorm room themselves have enough storage space with a nightstand as well as a desk. Each room has a microwave and a fridge, but the dining hall just across the street. The bathroom also has built-in storage and a private toilet, but the shower is small and does not have a separate room.
