Joe West Hall Dorm Reviews at SJSU

The building is old, so you can't expect much from it, most of the problem comes from the lack of soundproof walls. You can hear almost everything if the person next to your dorm is talking, and the showers seem to have a problem of not obtaining water efficiently (which leads to a big pool of water).

My experience at joe west has been quite interesting, it is considered the slums of the dorms on campus but I do believe it is a very social dorm and has a great social life, it is a great location but has no ac so does get very hot.

So far only being there for a little over than month now I feel comfortable enough to say that Joe west is overall a cool place to stay and live the college experience in not only cause of the people but cause Joe west is definitely a good starter for a dorm in college with no high or low expectations overall recommend it to others.

One of the dorms with a better chance of making friends because of its common area location. No air conditioning but there's fans in the rooms so it's a challenge during the summer weather. Elevators constantly break down so not the best dorm for people with disabilities.

Joe West does not have air-conditioning so the summer was very hot and uncomfortable. The building is old but I made some of my best-friends there and the 8th-12th floor have different communities signed to them so you can live on a floor with a bunch of freshman that have similar majors and hobbies as you!

I had stayed there my first two years of college. I would say it is a quiet living space with friendly staff that is always there to assist. They are very helpful with getting my room key. The bathrooms are ok although I would request bigger showers and better water pressure but thats my prefrence.

There isn't much to expect from living in a dorm at SJSU. The bathrooms are stocked. Everyone wear flip flops inside the showers. There are communal showers and there are also individual/private showers you can use. Every floor has a different theme and some floors more than others will have events for the residents who live on the floor. The bottom has several rooms to study and for people to play games, interact. The elevator often breaks, so you'll find yourself walking up stairs. Hopefully not on move-in day! Overall it was a good experience, not the cleanest but livable.

Although the cleanliness of Joe West was questionable at times, I enjoyed my experience living in the dorms as a freshman. Joe West is a Co-ed dormitory, so I was strange having male "neighbors" on either side of my room. I met some of the greatest people while living in the dorms, It was a great community building experience.
