Fred D. Brown Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UTK

It has been an overall good experience with friendly staff and clean areas. I don't like having young men running up and down the hall at 2am. banging on the doors and stealing nametags off doors. Its childish. But it also isn't the dorm that is the issue in that regard.

I loved living at Brown! It has a great location and is no more than 15 minutes from most spots on campus, especially for freshmen. Rooms are clean, new, and spacious; the full XL beds and private bathrooms are huge bonuses too! Having a workout facility and two restaurants in the building is super convenient too. Environment is quiet which is great for studying, and there is lots of common space for studying or socializing.

Though Brown Hall is one of the more expensive residence halls at UTK, I believe it is definitely worth it - especially in a pandemic! I'm in a double, so I my roommate and I have our own bathroom in our room. The dorms are super spacious, and also have full-sized beds (Stokely is the only other hall on campus that does too). Maintenance is super easy to request (there's an online form) and they usually come within 1-2 days! The RA's, study environments, and overall atmosphere of the dorm is awesome :) It's also super conveniently located, right on Ped Walkway and pretty close to the library/student union. I really have no complaints about the hall, other than that some people can get loud sometimes, but I know that changes yearly!

I am thoroughly enjoying my experience at Brown Hall! Safety is no question as multiple doors require authorization in between a dorm room and the outside the building that one has to go through. The cleaning staff is very friendly and professional. RA's are very involved and make an effort to organize events for residents to participate in. The lounge areas are also very inviting and relaxing and allow for space to study or wind down. Overall, I am very happy here!

My experience at Fred Brown hall has been really good! I have made so many friends during my time there down the halls and everyone is very friendly! I met my boyfriend right down the hall and one of my very best friends at the very end of the hall!This hall is very clean and tidy and all the RA's are super nice!

I had a great experience at Fred D. Brown Residence Hall. The common areas were always clean and it was in a great location to walk to classes. I personally think it is the best dorm on UTK's campus. Brown is close to campus buildings and dining halls. It even has a Subway and Twisted Taco in the building. The Resident Assistants and staff were always very kind. You also only have to share a bathroom with your roommates which was a plus.

Fred D. Brown is one of the best dorms on campus. I love it and don’t see myself anywhere else.The location is very nice right next to dining hall and it’s a 10 minute walk from either side of campus. The residence hall also has two restaurants in the building which has been super convenient this year.

Fred D. Brown is the best Residence Hall at the University of Tennessee. It has the location of Presidential Court yet is brand new inside and has no mold or problems with the building. Personally I lived in a single room with one other person and I would recommend that due to the fact that I only shared a bathroom with one person and I had a Full extra long bed.

Brown Hall has restaurants downstairs and a dining hall across the street, as well as a gym and the fact that it is located near the center of campus makes it the ideal dorm for those who can get into it.

My experience with the Brown Dorm has been great. The common areas are always clean and neat. They have quiet study rooms on each floor and have two places to eat on the bottom floor. Housekeeping comes once a month to clean the bathrooms the rest is up to you. The only problem I have experienced is the availability of washers and dryers but that can be solved by doing laundry at odd hours. It is right in a central location on campus with a parking garage in the back.

Absolutely loved living at Brown!! The spacious rooms, full xl beds, and private bathrooms are great to have and make living very comfortable and home-like. The multiple common areas are big with lots of seating to study or hang out in, and there's a balanced vibe of studious and social throughout the dorm. Workout room is a great amenity, too. Brown is very clean and safe and at a great location on campus--close to many things especially for freshmen.
