Laurel Hall Dorm Reviews at UTK

Laurel hall has been an excellent place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, and maintenance is completed very quickly. It is a very quiet hall, with the loudest thing audible being the air conditioning in the room.

It was a fairly simple apartment complex with everything I could need - A gym, laundry setups (in-building, not in-unit), a nice little common area that held the odd event, and a few other little things. My only complaint is how far it is from campus, I'm not even sure if it counts as "on campus" with how far it is. At least I get to see a bit of the local city.

I was a fascinating experience. It was the first time I had lived on my own without family there, and the first time I live with a stranger (a fellow student in this case) as a roommate. It was a relatively comfy and easily accessible place to stay at for people enrolled in the University of Tennessee. The main issue for me was how costly the rent was.

Overall, I had a very positive experience while living in Laurel Hall. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My issue was its location. Laurel is located in the Fort which is not the safest place, especially for a young female. Laurel was also very far away from all of the academic buildings make for long walks or early bus rides in order to make it to class on time.

Your roommate isn’t going anywhere. Don’t feel like you have to blow off other people to hang out with your roommate and ensure that you have an extremely close relationship. At the end of the day, you’ll be retiring to the same tiny space, so you may welcome any chance of escape. Similarly, don’t be offended if your roommate has other friends; just because you live together doesn’t mean you have to act like a married couple.

It's been good so far! I started living in Laurel Hall during the pandemic, and having a large living space, in addition to a kitchen in each dorm has been invaluable to staying sane. In addition, it is probably the best dorm to live in if you plan to have a car on campus, as it is close to 3 non-commuter parking lots, which is super valuable if you've got a job off-campus.
