Orange Hall Dorm Reviews at UTK

My year at orange hall was great. The building was at a great location. Some of the residence were loud at times. All the areas were clean and new. The laundry room was dirty and always busy. I always felt safe.

It's one of the newer dorms which is nice but the AC stops working frequently. It is far away from my courses and the closest dining hall is not good. It is close to the rec center which is nice. The bathrooms are shared with only a few other girls which I like better than full communal style.

Well, I live in a Living & Learning Community Dorm with engineering students, so it is good because everyone you live with have the same goals as you do. The only problem I have is the location. Orange Hall, besides from Magnolia and Dogwood, is farther west of the campus than the rest. Most engineering classes are on the east side near the Hill. So, us engineering students, who chose to live in the LLC, have to walk nearly the entire campus in order to get to class. That is the only complaint I have about the dorm. Other than that, everything else is awesome!

I live in Engage Living and Learning Community(LLC), so it is pretty quiet since we are studying most of the time. We all have similar classes, so we can help each other with the classes. I think it is great although is quite expensive in comparison to other dorms. It is far away from classes too.

Overall, the building is really nice; it's new. It's a little pricey compared to other, similar halls, but that's to be expected from a newer hall. The noise level isn't the best, but it isn't as if I can't focus on work: occasionally, people will run down the hall or yell, but it isn't too bad. It is, however, kind of far from most of the places on campus that I go to. It takes me about ten minutes to walk to the Student Union and as long as twenty to get to my engineering classes. BUT! It's close to quite a bit of parking, so I suppose it's a decent tradeoff.
