Daniels Dorm Reviews at University of Cincinnati

The best word to describe my experience at Daniels would be, interesting. It is definitely considered one of the party, or "social" dorms on campus. This keeps things interesting on the weekends, but also allows for you to meet lots of new people. The downfall to Daniels is that it is one of the older dorms on campus, so its not the nicest, and the bathrooms are not super updated. We have had our shower curtains changed multiple times due to mold, and our first semester hasn't even ended yet. There was also an incident when every toilet on our floor was out of order, due to the after affects of a couple of over-partiers. Aside from the bathrooms, I also live in a thirteen story building, (with me living on the ninth floor). Unfortunately, our elevators do not always work here, so I've learned taking the stairs can be fun! Sometimes if you are lucky, you'll meet some cool bugs on your way down to the lobby! Even with the downsides of Daniels I will admit I like it here. I live in a quad with three other girls and I could not have survived Daniels without them. Our area is small, but we have made it home. I plan to live with them in an off campus apartment next year, and thanks to my dorm I have made some lifelong best friends.

With covid restrictions it was not a fun place to live. Only sinks available were bathroom sinks. Room was covered with stains and dirt. Had an extra bed that no one would remove even though you are already starting with such a small space. Good closet room and organization though. Plenty of space for storage.

There were only nine people on the entire floor. The lounge and study areas also weren't aloud to be used and we couldn't be in large groups of people in the halls or elevators. The bathrooms are clean and well kept. My room was tiny but it had all of the necessities. UC provides a desk, fridge, microwave, desk chair, dresser, and closet. I loved the view from my room because it was facing the sunset and the practice fields.

It's hard to get the full dorm experience during a pandemic. But Daniels hall has done a good job of doing the best they can. I enjoy living here and have made some great friends. It's also close to the best dining hall on campus.

I have been there for almost 2 years now, it's on the expensive side, I would love to stay there but I need the money. it's a very lovely place to be at the people and the environment is so wonderful.

While staying at daniels hall it's important to keep the following in mind: 1. You will share a common bathroom with 70 other people and there are only 4 - 5 showers 2. Kids party every single weekend ( even though it's a dry dorm so if you're thinking about studying in your room it probably won't work out. 3. it has nice study areas but it gets busy sometimes. 4. sometimes drunk kids pull the fire alarm in the middle of the night and the whole building as to evacuate. this even happens during finals week when it's 7 degrees outside. not fun. 5. it's a great way to meet people and its really close to the food courts, campus green, and 60 W. Daniels has been a good experience this year as it is limited to two people per room when typically there are four to a room. It is in a decent location though it is slightly farther away from the center of campus than other dorms. The dorm does show its age (50+ years) and there are definitely areas in which it needs upgrades: controllable temperature, key cards instead of traditional keys, and updated showers. Overall it has been a fairly good experience.

I loved living in Daniels Hall despite it being one of the older dorms on campus. It was a really social dorm, the rooms are set up for you to meet at least one new person. I met some of my best friends there and made so many good memories.

Daniels was my first and last dorm. It allowed for community as many people would leave their doors open and many would interact, and this can be good and bad. It is a very old building so everything seemed dirty and the elevators broke down often (I even got stuck in one) and it can take forever to catch an elevator. I lived in a quad so there wasn't really much space. It was okay for sleeping in but not comfortable to truly live in. Also the bathrooms are communal for the floor which isn't always a problem but there were often people that wouldn't clean up after themselves and toilets would break down often.
