Sandburg Hall Dorm Reviews at Milwaukee

Well, it is not perfect, but it I can say it is good to live in the dorm because it is close to the classrooms and other university offices. Also, food is provided at the cafeteria and students can have food as many as they want when the cafeteria is open. However, the biggest problem is the cost is too high.

I have lived in the dorm for three years and have seen it turned from ghost town to ideal freshman. This is where I made the majority of my friends and even living there for one year is better than not at all. I did three years because of Covid, but I loved living in East. I do recommend it for new freshman.

You can tell that itβs campus housing for sure. Itβs old, but they make sure that everything is fixed and able to be used. the cleaning staff does a lot of hard work because there are students who donβt pick up after themselves , but the building stays very clean and managed. there is a lot of lounge and study areas in the dorms as well, so itβs easy and accessible for students.

I have had a great start to the year at Sandburg as the space is kept clean, the staff of the building is very friendly and helpful, and I like how the location is very convenient as it is right in the middle of campus so walking to classes is not a very lengthy process.

Overall, I would say the biggest downside to the dorms is no ac, but the hot weather does not last long either way. My favorite thing about our dorms are the private bathrooms each suite has. Sandburg offers a lot of nice resources like the Grind, movie theater, convenient store, and spacious laundry areas.

I have had nothing but good experiences living in Sandburg. I had a few issues but they were resolved once i took the initiative! I am very grateful that i am loving on campus and not off campus. i would recommend new freshmen living in sandburg!

Really clean and simple, design teally friendly for people first vetting a feel of away from home living. My only personal peeve is the bathrooms don't have a general lock on door only on the toilet stall located in the bathroom meaning someone can walk-in etc.

The community at Sandburg is vibrant. It becomes a place where students actually want to hang out, study, and spend time with friends. Itβs much like what one would expect for a freshman dorm but itβs more than just a place to sleep.

Sandburg East was a pretty good dorm. Nicely renovated and quiet over there. North is very noisy along with south tower. Elevators work on and off, but at least one is always running. Overall good experience.

Easily the most convenient dorm at UWM, it's located in the heart of campus and also easily accessible by public transport. It has its issues though, common areas (especially areas near the cafeteria) are often unkept - and being the most populous dorm on campus, it can get noisy from time to time.

It wasn't the cleanest, and the dorms were expensive for what you paid for. I didn't like the fact I was forced to have a meal plan if I lived on campus and pay $800 just for the facilities of the dining hall even if I was using it. However, the bathrooms were really nice and they had a pretty good moving in system as well as moving out. The staff was really friendly and I felt pretty safe.

My roommates were a good fit and overall the experience was a pretty good one. The cafeteria had many options from snacks to decent tasting meals. However, the cleanliness of these areas could sometimes be a complete mess. Laundry was a pain to carry to another towers basement to do...

With Covid, there are much less people here than usual which makes the place quieter and cleaner. With less people, there are less food options. I have also noticed a lot of fire trucks and ambulances stopping by multiple times a month.

I love Sandburg hall is suite living, I like only sharing a bathroom with my 2 suitemates instead of a whole floor of people. It makes maintaining cleanliness easier and is more convenient to use than if there was a communal bathroom. The food service is okay when you first move here but after a while you get tired of the food due to the lack of a rotating menu and this year Sandburg Cafe, the main food service in Sandburg, has been closed all year except for healthy option food. Otherwise I very much like living in Sandburg, I have a great view of the Milwaukee skyline from my spacious 14th floor room and it stays quiet even during the night.

Sandburg hall allows you to join many on campus activities all while being in the center of the campus. Although most times it's quite there are times when it gets noisy in the halls. Sandburg also has limited food options on campus but its close enough to walk to other stores and fast-food places. North tower is being redone right now but the other dorms are pretty decent. Its a but old school in west tower but more upgraded in south and east tower. Each tower shares 1 kitchen except for east tower since they have their own kitchens. It's easier to meet new people here too. Lastly there's only two study rooms so its first come first serve.

Sandburg Hall was not bad at all. It was basically at the center of campus and only a few minute walk from the athletic center. It was clean, safe and accessible. The cafe was clean and the food was above average. They also had the Restore which was a convenience store that had most of your needs.

Sandburg Hall was so convenient as a freshman. It is so close to every single building on UWM's campus, and you get to meet so many people just in the dorms. The suite style dorms are amazing, because you get your own bathroom (that you only share with 3-4 other people) rather than having communal bathrooms. The employees of Sandburg are always so nice and friendly. Honestly, I really liked the food options they had available - they were always actually yummy and they had gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, too! They always had cool events for each floor and the whole building to participate in for residents to get to know each other! It was honestly the perfect living situation, especially as a freshman.

I am going into my second semester here at UWM and living in the dorms, I have had a great experience living here. Although COVID-19 has played a major part in my college experience as a whole, I am happy that I have a clean and safe place to reside in for another semester. The efforts to keep as many helpful areas open such as study rooms, lounge areas, and dining halls has been great and I think UWM staff has done a fantastic job at making a meaningful first year for us as Freshman, even though it is unpredictable and difficult for everyone.

My experience was good because of the people that lived there. Our RA never nagged at us and was respectful, and we only had to complain about noise two times. If you're not in the East Tower, everything is outdated and the bathroom shower had mold in it. Also when I moved in, my carpet had a crusty white stain on it, which is still there to this day. Aside from this, Sandburg is a good place to stay because it is right on campus and your classes are literally across the street.
