Gladding Residence Center Dorm Reviews at VCU

It was recently built in 2019 and has a lot of nice features like a gym, kitchens and laundry on every other floor, as well as a private courtyard. I had the suite which included my own bathroom which worked out well seeing as the communal bathroom situation was not regularity maintained. From first glance, this building seemed like a good, safe choice compared to the other freshmen dorms; however, people did not take good care of it and made my experience not so pleasant.

The gladding residence center, also known as GRC, is a beauty living space for freshmen. The building is very spacious and clean. Each suite has a separate bathroom so you don’t have to worry about sharing with anyone except your suit mates. Beautiful recreational and work spots in the building as well.

It was been a pretty good experience. There are way too many fire alarms in the building that wake me up in the middle of the night, but I did get a relatively quiet floor. They are always trying to plan activities for the students which is nice, and the workers here are so sweet. They all really care about the safety of everyone in the building and there is plenty of resources that they provide in case something may go wrong. All of the actual problems are caused by the actual students.

GRC is a great dorm for the most part. I love my roommate and I love my room setup. Unfortunately, I have to use the communal bathroom which is nasty and messy. Too many fire drills have happened too.

I am so glad I was able to live in gladding residence center, it was by far the nicest dorm I have ever seen. I even miss it to this day and wish I could still live there. The location was perfect and everything was so new and clean.

Gladding residence is a beautiful dorm apartment. I enjoy all the lobbies on every floor. The only thing that I don't like is the amount of fire alarms that happen in our building. It's a very frequent occurrence that wakes us all up at ungodly times. It affects our sleep and academic performance.

Gladding Residence Center was the newest renovated dorm at VCU when I attended. It had a rec center for games, courtyard, and a park outside the dorm. It is still one of the nicest dorm to be in however, it costs more to live in GRC than the other dorms. While there is the school police there were still violence that happened around the area and homeless people around the park. If you plan to attend VCU I would highly recommend GRC as it has better facility's and living conditions.

Gladding was an interesting place to live. The cleaning staff was always super friendly, however, I can't say the same for the front desk staff. Overall, the building is nice, and the amenities are nice- but when I lived there they had a mold problem. They put big filter units in windows, said they would come around and clean our vents weekly (which never happened). The communal bathrooms got quite gross, from tampons and vomit in the showers to white claws in the toilets. Though, what else should you expect from a majority freshman dorm?

The Gladding Residence Center is a beautiful and modern living space on campus. It offers a variety of room types, including singles, doubles, and suites, all designed with comfort and convenience in mind. The residence hall also boasts several amenities, such as a fitness center, study lounges, and games in the lobby. The location is ideal, close to Monroe Park, some educational buildings, and Cary Street gym. Overall, the Gladding Residence Center is a great place to call home during your college experience.

A lot of the bad parts of my experience at GRC mostly came from my roommate situation; but overall, the building was great and well maintained. There were a couple of issues with security as far as people who were definitely not supposed to come in somehow making their way in, but I was lucky enough to happen to be out of town.

During orientation the rom was clean. It had a lot of space. I also had a great view from the window. The gladding residence Center is not that far from the gym, and I like that, because I like to play basketball.

Being a freshman, it was my first time at GRC, and I had an amazing experience. They assigned me a roommate, and I love her since we get along. Throughout the semester, I also made friends there. They also had different events for the students so that they can make the students/residents to feel welcome and at home.

It was a very fun experience when I visited and made me want to live there as a freshmen when I heard about it from friends. The environment is welcoming and allows you to meet a lot of people and it’s something I’m very excited for.

I stayed the night for orientation this past weekend and it was very easy to adjust to. It is very new and I enjoyed it a lot. The only complaint I had was that I wish we had known to bring cleaning supplies. The bathrooms of the suite had not been cleaned since the last orientation group. Overall, I liked it a lot and I hope I am accepted into this residence center.

I loved living in Gladding Residence Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. It is only a few years old and everything is up to date, clean, stylish, and overall the nicest dorm I have ever seen. Although activities such as pool and ping pong were closed due to COVID, it was still awesome that at one time, students were allowed to use the amazing common spaces.

It was a very great experience for my first year in college and it was very enjoyable, to say the least. I met many people and was able to cook within the dorm a couple of times and they have amazing places and view to study or hang out with friends.

The location on campus for first year students is unmatched as it opens up to Monroe park and is close to almost every school building. The meal plan options are also close by. The building staff are friendly and helpful if you reach out to them. RAs are always there to support you. There is a courtyard for easy outdoors access that is safe and enclosed.

I have had a calm experience at Gladding Residence Center. For the most part it is very quiet. Sometimes you’ll here people playing music while you walk down the hallway but that is it. They have staff cleaning around the clock. They have people working at the front desk 24/7 and everyone has to scan their ID cards to get it so it is incredibly safe.

This is my first semester on any type of campus. My experience at Gladding Residence Center is very good. This dorm building really cooperates with the Covid-19 guidelines, making me feel safer. The bathrooms are cleaned a couple times daily, the lobby's are always clean, and the halls are very well maintained. Additionally, students are required to scan their VCU card's in order to enter GRC. Knowing only GRC residence can get into the building also gives me a heightened sense of safety.

I stayed at GRC before COVID hit in 2018, the first year it was open to students. It was a very nice dorm! Very clean and very cool to stay in. I didn’t like how easy it was to hear your neighbors or how easy command strips came off and took the wall with it, so be careful of that. Otherwise, I really liked the dorm and even it’s communal bathrooms. You would think the bathrooms being co-Ed would be scary, but as a girl I felt pretty safe since the bathroom stalls are their own rooms that lock.
