GRC Dorm Reviews at VCU

The dorm is kind of pricey but its the cleanest out of all the freshman dorms. The semi suites kind of feel like you're sleeping in a hallway, but if you have good roommates it can be an enjoyable environment. The semi suites also have a bathroom only you and your suitemates share, the building does have coed bathrooms with full doors but wear shower slippers if you don't get a semi suite

It is a very nice building now that it has been renovated. You are in the heart of the city and campus so you always have things to do and thing going on. It is a great experience to go through especially in the first few months of college. The place is nice but you have to learn how to go from not sharing a space with someone to sharing.

GRC is a beautiful dorm housing complex. I absolutely love the modern style dorms and the idea of semi suite dorms. huge and open windows that give you a stunning view of the lovely Monroe park. It's such a great environment for living.

It could've been better but overall great experience. The bathrooms were sometimes not clean or sanitary enough to my liking. The overall students living there was kinda nasty and uncaring when it came to public and private property.

The RA I had was outstanding. Since GRC was only a year old, it was kept up very well and maintenance is always on top of things. It is typically clean and kept up very well. The lobby is great and just all around an amazing dorm, wouldn't choose any other on campus for freshman.

Living at the GRC was a weird experience, there were many times that the water stopped running or that the WiFi just stopped working which was annoying when in the middle of class, but it was a pretty good time beside that. With the pandemic, they were very careful about getting things to be neat and tidy as well as making sure everything was socially distanced. The noise wasn't too bad except on some nights where you could obviously hear people partying but if you asked they'd quiet down. I had a personal bathroom which was clean because we kept it clean, and we didn't have any plumbing issues. The location was really nice, you'd see beautiful sunsets and it wasn't too far from the Cary St. Gym and the Library.

I have loved my experience at GRC. I live in a suite-style room with my roommate sharing a bathroom with another room of 2 girls. I find the stylistic decisions of the building to be very well-thought out as the sleekness of the room allows all students to add their own touch. I've noticed that most rooms get copious natural light spilling in, something my roommate and I have found essential to our comfort and happiness. The bathroom is wonderful with a normal tub style shower and I have never felt as if I don't have a reasonable amount of space. GRC is located dead on campus right in front of Monroe Park where I spend almost every day when the weather allows it. It is a beautiful campus and having all the freshmen buildings surround the park gives this city school a sense of community. I have never felt unsafe in the building and I find that the staff is extremely kind, even through these tough COVID times. The building handled quarantined students very well, attempting to care for them while remaining as indiscreet as possible.

Great study areas and a beautiful modern design. Wish there was clean a/c vents, and ventilation in the suite style bathrooms. Overall the suites are nice and well designed. This is the best dorm on campus and probably better than any other Virginia school dorms.
