The building is definitely older and It doesn't have the common Virginia Tech look at all. It is very small; 3 stories tall, but only the top 2 stories were for dorm rooms. The first floor was my favorite part, because of the study hall area. It was always very quiet and peaceful, I took several tests and did many homework assignments there, it was always my go-to study place. The dorm room itself was a pretty decent size, I saw smaller and bigger rooms in other dorm halls. The windows to the rooms were very small, dark, and most of the window screens were falling apart or missing altogether. Strangely there was a cricket problem in the dorm as well, it wasn't horrible, just surprising and they weren't super common, just enough for it to be a trend. The bathrooms were all newly renovated, looked really good, and felt clean. It was always pretty quiet in the dorm, no 2 am disturbances or anything crazy like that. Hillcrest is in the corner of campus, so it was away from the noise and other dorms.
