Johnson Residence Hall has recently been renovated, so the rooms and common areas are fairly new and clean. The rooms are a decent size and there are both study areas open to the public and closed rooms for more privacy. All residents have access to the decks and sun rooms. There are also couches and a TV on all floors. The basement contains a full kitchen with a game room while the main entrance has a piano and tables for working. Although the dorming is co-ed which is separated by a main room/hallway, I lived on the third floor with all girls.

Johnson Residence Hall has 3 showers within the communal bathroom and there are two handicap bathrooms on the hall also containing a shower. The cleanliness of the bathrooms are well. There is custodian that comes everyday to clean the toilets and wipe down the sinks. The communal area is quaint and there is no elevator within the building. There is also a deck on the top of the building as well as in the front, which students are able to occupy. Overall, this dorm is not a horrible place to live and is quite close to the main dining halls as well as classes.

Honestly, there’s a lot of downsides. It’s very old, there’s mold and the rooms are cramped. However, it’s a freshman dorm. You’ll get through it. It’s part of the experience and I met a lot of my friends there because it’s one of the most social dorms. Plus, for most of your classes (if not all) you can wake up 10-15 minutes before class and still get there on time.
