Mathes Hall Dorm Reviews at Washington

My overall experience at Mathes was what you would expect for a college dorm room for size and quality. The view was the best thing about the dorm as well as the community that was created. Cleanliness depends on the types of residents you have for the year, people were generally more clean than the ones in Nash Hall although was not cleaned as thoroughly as Nash.

It was mostly okay, sometimes you would walk into the bathroom and see someone throwing up after a hangover, but it was a fun experience nonetheless. The location of the dorm was also very convenient considering it's in north campus, so you're close to the viking union, library, red square, and downtown Bellingham.

It was during covid and nobody was allowed to have a roommate, so I can’t speak to how it was living with somebody. But the location is great and the double rooms don’t seem very cramped compared to others at WWU.

Mathes Hall has a great location as it is on the north end of campus near downtown. All of the staff including the RA's in this building have been nothing but helpful and friendly this year, especially during COVID. The building is a bit old so it definitely has some wear and tear (especially in the bathrooms) but overall it is a great place to live.

Bathrooms are cleaned 5 days a week as well as the kitchenette, getting packages is super easy since they email you when it is time to pick up a package. Wish there were more washers and dryers and sinks in our rooms.

Beautiful views! This is the closet dorm in North Campus to the PAC and student bookstore. Living in North Campus was a great experience. You're really close to downtown and since most people have multiple classes in the buildings around red square, you'll be really close to class. I always felt safe and our dining hall has the BEST views on campus.

Mathes has been a really great dorm to stay in while in quarantine with the ability to self-isolate but also allowing for socializing through Zoom or the common areas. My floor has stayed mostly quiet but I have made some friends with the others on my floor! The showers are less than ideal in the way that they don't stay very warm and the water pressure leaves much to be desired, but the staff has done an excellent job making it safe and clean.

Mathes is a beautiful building on the North side of campus. It is right next to main buildings such as the bookstore and dining hall. My room has an amazing view of the ocean and town which I love waking up to everyday. Overall the staff here has been incredibly nice and understanding of everyone's needs especially with Covid-19. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable. I can't imagine living in a different dorm.
