Calkins Hall Dorm Reviews at CMU

I lived in Calkins when I was a freshman. It was a really nice dorm as it had good facilities by it. It can be a little annoying living there if you have classes on the south side of campus but you would get used to it. It had a basketball and volleyball court behind it which was really enjoyable to use.

My favorite part about Calkins Hall is how close it is to the Library and the University Center. My least favorite part is how far it is away from the Student Activity Center and most of the classes, altough with COVID, I'm taking most of my classes online, so that doesn't affect me too much. The dining hall is okay, but it has a lot less options than some of the other dining halls which is kind of annoying, but the food is still decent. I do like the rooms, though, and I enjoy being there.

Very quiet. Lots of fun activities to do. Rooms are small with no air conditioning but they do have heat. Desk and chair, 6 shelf drawer, twin xl bed and mattress provided. There are two rooms with a common room in between and bathroom. Basketball and volleyball courts back behind the building and quick access the Robinson residential restaurant

Living at Calkins Hall is an experience I can never forget. From the Students to the staff, everything and everyone was so enjoyable. The rooms themselves were so spacious and comfortable for the currents conditions and I would definitely recommend it to any freshman coming into the school. I am truly enjoying my stay and even though I may change my living accommodation for my second year of school, living hear has truly felt like a home away from home.

Calkins was a very quiet place. Great for studying and relaxing. I personally never heard any partying and honestly never heard people. The only annoying thing was the placement on campus, somewhat of a blessing and a curse.
