Joe E. Berry Hall Dorm Reviews at C of C

Berry Hall was your average freshmen dorm room. It was quite obvious it had been built in the 80s and not updated since then, although I never had any maintenance issues. My favorite factor of the dorm was that they were all suite styled and no community bathrooms.

Very comfortable place to live if you're with the right people. There are some downsides such as the building being a bit old, however the placing of the building within the campus is very good since it's very close to multiple other main buildings.

Joe E. Berry Hall was my first college dorm, and was what you might think of a typical freshman dorm; older but renovated, clean enough if you maintain your spaces, a few older or faulty appliances here and there, 100% workable and good enough for a first home away from home. The dorms left a lot of be desired but Berry met the (relatively low) expectations it set of being a good enough college freshman dorm.

I only lived in Berry for one semester, but that was plenty of time to get the lay of the land. Just like most of the buildings on C of C's campus, Berry is definitely run down in some regards. However, the location and ease of access to everything make up for it.

It was nice and close to most of all the class buildings as well as the other places on campus. The RAs were nice and helpful during the year. Other than the sixth floor hallway ceiling falling apart when it was raining, it was well kept.

Berry Hall is where a lot of the Bridge to College of Charleston students dorm at. They always seemed to be very inappropriate and immature for being in college, trashed the place all the time, and did not know how to keep the noise level to a minimum. The maintenance people were always nice, it's just that something was always broken and took forever to get fixed. Our drain in our shower would clog up the water and we put in a report to be fixed but no one ever came and fixed it. Out of all the other dorms on campus, Berry is not the best one.

Berry hall has been good to me, although the building is very old and in need of some TLC. There are common issues with the bathrooms and some lounge areas, but overall, the dorm is in a great location and has great security.

I have stayed in Berry Hall my first two years at CofC. It's the best dorm for location and quality living space. My classes are super close, you're practically on King street and its right above City Bistro dining hall (which comes in handy for late night cravings). Love the space
