Smith Hall might have quick internet speed, it lacks in visual cleanliness as doors are peeling, slamming security doors fills the halls each time you walk by, only two refill stat around for the hall

My experience has not been ideal. Although we do have our own rooms this year and only have to share a bathroom with your suitemate, my experience has not been great. First of all move in day, the rooms were not very clean, there was dust and stuff on the desks. In every drawer there is mix matched wall paper that is impossible to move. The part that has been the biggest hassle to my suitemate and I has been the bathroom. Firstly when we came here it was filthy, the floor very dirty, the walls and the geout in the tub/shower was black. (mold?) We did what we could to make it lookm not as gross and i had to also purchase a shower curtain and liner because the sheet of plastic they provided was pathetic and old. Also I am 5”8 and that shower head is maybe at eye level if you want to wash your hair be ready to squat, and spend a good amount of time turning every which way to actully get wet.(also my suitemate is 5”5 ish and she also thinks it is short) After about a week our shower drain started to become clogged, and clogged to the point no water was going down so I had to put in a work order to have someone come fix it. After plunging did not work, they came back with a solution to pour down and it was fixed for about a week. Then we were told there was a leak in the RA’s office below us(we are on the second floor) so we were asked to not use the shower, but we can take a bath. There was no way I would ever take a bath in that tub, it is still very gross looking and not a good idea for health reasons. Now I am a student athlete and they made a mistake thinking i wouldnt take a quick shower. Anyways we have had people in and out for months trying to fix this leak! the latest person was a week ago! That is not all. One morning I woke up with bug bites all over my body. Obviously I was disgusted and started searching for any bugs in my room/bed. The most I had seen before were ants in the tub and some on my desk( I don’t see them anymore). So I was throughly confused. The next night I was going to go to bed like normal because I could not find a single bug, but then I got another! I had to call the RA on duty, sound crazy and she just told me to switch beds(because one person to a room there is another bed to use). I honestly did not want to stay in that room any longer but ai just switched beds because there wasnt much else they could do. Some guys came the next day pounding on my door. They also could not find any bugs! You can imagine how frustrating when I have about 10 red itchy and painful bug bites! They determined it was carpet beatle larve and there were no live bugs in my room, sure. So yea my stay has not been sweet! Other things that bother me are the blinds on the windows are very dirty, the floor is tile and is gross to walk on bearfoot. The desk chairs are super old and not comfortable and the matresses don’t even fit on the bed frames, that are bolted down. Pros? the room comes with microwave and fridge, the room is big, so if there were two people it would not be bad. And there is a lot of closet space.

I like smith but it’s a very old building with doors chipped and paint peeling off. There are cracks on the floors and scratches on the tables. It’s not bad but it could be better. I like the staff and the storage and the room it has but that’s about it.
