Piedmont Hall Dorm Reviews at Mason

My experience at Piedmont was very excellent, even for it to be my first year at university. I joined the Piedmont Hall because it was connected with the LGBTQ+ Studies, and I felt that this dorm would allow me to feel welcomed and accepted while coming onto campus. I did have a small problem, but it was not in any connection to the building itself. The location of the hall was great and the RA's made it to where everyone on the floor was able to interact with one another and get to know everyone.

I really love Piedmont Hall! I have been inside other dorms, and I must say, out of all of the residence halls I have been in, Piedmont is the cleanest. The staff who cleans Piedmont are amazing and friendly- if they see me coming with my laundry basket they always hold the door open and say hello to me in the hall. Especially with COVID, they have disinfecting cleaning my outside doorknob (and all of the other ones) which is nice to not worry about including in my cleaning. Location-wise, you really cannot get any better. It is really close to the dining halls, many of the academic buildings, the HUB, and the JC. I will say that there have been a few maintenance issues which, when they happen, they are extremely annoying. This year, the refrigerator broke, which was included with my specific room, but they completely replaced it after their first attempt at fixing it did not work. There is a desk at Piedmont, which is nice because there are only a few throughout campus, so if you get locked out you can get a loaner key or have any questions answered by the people working there. It is a 24/7 desk, so on normal weeks throughout the semesters you can always have access to it!

My experience living in Piedmont Hall has been super positive! I've lived in this building for 3/4 of my college career. The only issue is that the elevator does break a bunch of times, so it would stink having to walk up the stairs to the fourth and fifth floors.
