Hoobler Hall Dorm Reviews at GVSU

I have been living in Hoobler for 3 months. I love it! This is a 2 bed room apartment style, so each student gets their own bedroom and they share a bathroom and a kitchen within the dorm room. It is also right next to the parking lot and dining hall, so very easy access to both. You have a key to your room and you have to swipe your card and put in a unique code that you are given to be able to enter the building. Something this hall could work on is cleanliness and a more lively common area.

I loved living in Hoobler. I loved the luxury of being able to shut my own bedroom door. It helped me stay focused on school. It also gave me an advantage if I knew I needed a quiet space and did not want to walk to the library. I also enjoyed the environment of the hall. The RA's were very friendly as easy to talk to. Even though Hoobler is a two bedroom apartment style I was still able to make tons of friends despite the rumors that having more than one door to shut would make it harder to make friends. My favorite part was only having to share a bathroom with one other person. That allowed my roommate and I to know our bathroom space was always clean.

I really enjoyed living in the Hoobler building when I attended GVSU my first year in college. I was over two hours away from my home and I had never left my small town before, however, living at Hoobler made me feel as close to home as I could. Although I decided not to continue my education at Grand Valley, I found safety and comfort in my dorm room while I was there and would definitely encourage others to consider that style of living if they are attending GVSU.
