South C, D, and E Dorm Reviews at GVSU

I loved the living and learning community concept and attended office hours in my dorm regularly. I had an individual bathroom that I shared with one of my three roommates and had my own bedroom. It was very convenient to have a full kitchen however it was rough being far away from the other freshman dorms.

My experience at South E was great! It was nicely made and maintained and the rooms itself were spacious and well thought out. I loved the study rooms on each floor for late night studying/change of scenery or space. The floor plan of each floor was sometimes confusing to navigate and it was a bit further from the rest of campus, but overall it was a great on-campus housing option for upperclassmen.

There was never a significant issues but the noise was always coming from surrounding rooms and the people above me. I loved my apartment space except the small kitchen. The bathroom toilet kept making noises all night but it was fixed after a maintenance request. I never saw anything dirty or trashy about the buildings. The staff was prompt, engaging and felt like a safe space. Although I like that it's tucked back the apartments are the farthest from everything, which is the worse con. It is walking distance but it's not close to anything except Blue Connection.

The hallways, stairwells, and elevators were ALWAYS dirty. The walls and floors are VERY thin. The person above me decided to exercise in their room by jumping up and down for an hour at a time a few times a week (which shook my entire room). When I contacted an RA, they said "We can't tell our residents to stop moving around in their rooms." So if you have a noise complaint, don't expect anything to be done about it. This is also one of the most expensive housing options on campus. Wish I had done more research about South C, D, and E before moving in...

I love this apartment. It is so nice to have my own room and bathroom. It is not traditional freshman living. We have a full kitchen and living room which is also nice because we can study with on campus students here.

South C was amazing to live in, plenty of space and privacy! You have your own room, but you share a kitchen and bathroom. You can choose to have 1 roommate or 3 roommates. The roommates the cheaper the price
