Dakin House Dorm Reviews at Hampshire

Dakin is fun to live in because all the first years get to bond over a shared location. It is amazing that each student living in Dakin can have a single room. The hallways are clean and privacy is not hard to find; the walls are thick. The common rooms, especially the floors with balconies, are great places to work alone, or to host a group of friends for studying, movie watching, etc. The noise is great because it's far enough away from a quiet road; all you really hear is the lawnmowers occasionally, and the bus stopping several times a day- depending on which side you live. The Dakin quad is beautifully enveloped in trees and is a great place to eat lunch or study on a nice day. It is right next to the dining commons, so getting a meal is a short walk away. I can't speak too much to Dakin's accessibility, but I have had friends in chairs do okay living on the first floor.

Wonderful and cozy. The views are lovely, however we do not have air conditioning, unlike our Merrill counterparts. In the few warm summer weeks during fall term it becomes extremely warm. My hall is very quiet and respectful and we often visit together in the common areas.

Dakin is a wonderful place, each student has their own rooms which makes it really confutable and nice to study and do homework. Hal meets are the greatest and getting in contact with people is very easy. however, the staff could do a better job cleaning
