Hale Wainani Dorm Reviews at Hawaii

The building itself is dated, so expectations shouldn't be too high if considering living here. Otherwise, there is parking in the area (assuming you purchased the correct parking pass) and a student store in the area. There are also 2 laundry rooms that are accessible to where ever you may be placed. The room layout isn't all that bad itself. I shared a room with another but there was plenty of space between us. I also had another pair of roommates right across from my room with a single bathroom. Kitchen utilities are dated, but plenty of cabinet space for kitchen utensils. There is some extra storage space for cleaning supplies and such. Overall, if you want a kitchen and don't mind sharing it with a couple others, this is the dorm to pick.

The dorms aren't always clean. There are obviosuly lizards so sometimes there is waste from them everywhere. Hard to get in touch with maintence sometimes they take a while. Room overall nice kitchen works well bathroom is nice. The only thing is floors are stained and rooms are kind of outdated.

I overall had an okay experience at Hale Wainani. This dorms are safe because they are far from Dole street also known as one of the main streets on campus. But because of this my dorm was very far from all of my classes. The dorms desperately need to be updated and properly cleaned.

The dorms are very random on cleanliness depending which one you end up with. Ours is fairly nice when we arrived but I have had friends with terrible dorm rooms and ended up switching. You are allowed to switch and the maintenance staff is very slow when it comes to repairs (especially the elevator).

Many many issues. Low water pressure. Disgusting carpet. Gross bathrooms. Maintenance doesnβt respond or help for months. I still have a broken desk 3 months later. Took 2 months to get screens to keep bugs out. Only one elevator works and even it doesnβt work often. Often times the lights dont turn on. Couches are gross.

Hale Wainani is a great option for living on campus after your freshman year. The living arrangements are apartment style and with up to four people per room, giving a good amount of space with access to a personal kitchen, bathroom, and large common area. The location of the dorms is good since it is a short walk to the main campus where classes are held and close enough to nearby stores and restaurants. Overall it is a good experience for students looking to live on campus after their freshman year.

This was one of most most amazing and humbling experience, especially coming to a place where I didn't know anyone. The staff made me feel so welcomed and matched me with the best roommate. Truly a great Aloha experience!
