The Netherlands Dorm Reviews at Hofstra

My experience so far has been great living in the Netherlands. The facilities are maintained well and I feel safe and comfortable living here. The only thing I would say is it is sometimes difficult to do laundry with only two washers and dryers per building. The common area can be loud after quiet hours, but that is about the students, not the location. Having somewhere for food in the core is also really nice so you don't have to walk across campus every time you want food.

Great building. There is a lot of space. Bathrooms have more space than other buildings, which is a big plus. Closets are also large. The lounges have enormous televisions that are useful with hangouts.

Good sized bedrooms and common room. Very spacious and new-looking bathroom. My one and only complaint about the bathroom is that it does not have a fan therefore it becomes very steamy after a shower. Common area has a stove, sink and large counter area, plus couches.

I was located in Amsterdams section. When you enter the building, there's a big common room with a kitchen by the entrance. Amsterdam was special because we had Pc computers which none of the other house's had .

I would say that it is in a great place for first-year students it's close by classes and is not too far from the common areas that a new student would need to know. ALso, with everything going on during the pandemic not having to share a bathroom with an entire building is a pretty good thing for everyone's health.

I was dorming alone for the latter part of the fall semester and made use of the convenient common rooms, the laundry, and the food court that's directly outside of the dorms. You don't even need to leave the Netherlands Complex to get something to eat, which is a great bonus when you want to study and can't travel into the student center. And if you're like me and don't have a printer on hand in your dorms, there's one right outside the entrance to the Netherlands North. Also, there are many different entrances into the dorms that make moving in and out very easy. My only issue with the dorms is the key card system that works half of the time or when it wants to but it's a small price to pay for security. To anyone moving into the Netherlands Complex, also keep in mind that you'll need to bring your own furniture when moving in as nothing is supplied. This includes an ethernet cable, chairs, tv stand, tv, etc.

It is honestly a great place for freshmen to stay it is around a lot of the activities that the school offers. So this way you are not walking too far but you're walking just enough to get familiar with the school during your first year on campus.

The Netherlands Complex has many opportunities to meet new people. The common areas, both inside and outside, are great places to meet up and study or just hang out. There's also a place to get food right at the entrance along with a printer which is useful for any in-person classes. The bathrooms are private here and the general cleanliness of the dorms is up to the person dorming. Me and my suitemates, as there are four people per room, keep the place clean and comfortable.

I am in Leiden in Netherlands North and it is genuinely really nice. On the second floor there isn’t really a noise problem and there isn’t a bug issue. The laundry room is a little gross sometimes but I think that is normal. The bottom floor always has noise complaints about everyone on the second floor. And apparently there have been cockroaches but my experience has been good. Other buildings also have big problems but I’ve only every seen one bug in our suite. The bathrooms are great in Leiden and there are high ceilings, but other suites in other buildings might be different.
