Van Winkle Dorm Reviews at Lasell

I stayed in Van Winkle my freshman year. It was horrible! It looks like a prison, it’s very echoey, so you can hear everything. The bathrooms are communal, and most of the time it was very gross. The only time it was clean was when the cleaners came every morning, and I appreciate them for dealing with other people’s mess. Another thing with the bathrooms, the shower curtains they provide you don’t cover you. If you try to pull the curtain to one side, there would be a gap on the other side. It was very uncomfortable taking showers there (at least for me). Overall, just a horrible place to stay, but if you’re a female and you’re a first year coming into Lasell, you’re more likely to get into Van Winkle.

I just moved in there from another dorm that I had a lot of problems with, I really love Van Winkle. I feel more comfortable knowing that it is an all-girls dorm and I do feel a lot safer living in an all-girls dorm. Although Covid-19 is still very prevalent, it is nice being able to hang out with friends in the common room while still being socially distant from one another. The common rooms are bigger than my old dorm and it is just easier and safer to be with people in these common rooms. It is for the most part always quiet which I really enjoy, it makes it easy to get work done and then be able to go hang out with people. Everyone in the dorm is super nice and welcoming, as I was insanely nervous to move from a dorm that I had already gotten used to into a new dorm that I wasn't really sure of.
