Biever Hall Dorm Reviews at Loyola

So far the experience has been good, We have a really good RA and being a student athlete the location is perfect. I have a great roomate and I have made quite a few friends on my floor. So far a good experience.

Biever Hall is exactly what you expect as a college freshman entering the dormitory world. It is very (and I mean VERY) difficult to get inside here unless you are a Biever resident, so I would say it's very safe. Since it is majority freshman, there is a high-security presence which is very nice. It also has these nice windows that overlook the quad which is pretty especially at night. Maintenance kind of takes forever sometimes, and the res life office is very hit or miss depending on who you have to talk to, but otherwise it's a pretty chill dorm and definitely embodies the traditional freshman dorm experience. It is also so close to everything on campus so you are never usually more than a 5 minute walk from your classes.

My experience at Biever Hall was mixed. On the one hand, I had no problem with the building itself. Besides the elevator breaking down every now and then and the occasional broken washing machine, I have no negative comments about the building, I found it quite cozy and homey in fact. On the other hand, my floor (6th) was extremely noisy at late hours and the bathroom was poorly maintained, especially considering I was living there in the midst of a pandemic.

Biever Hall is certainly a great place for freshmen looking to have the classic first year experience. Although not the quietest, it is the best dorm out of the rest if you want to stay in the know of the goings on of campus. It's a very social dorm and is easy to make friends. While the dorm and bathroom isn't always the cleanest, it's likely due to the activity of the students living there, rather than a lack of cleanup from the staff. It certainly has it's downsides, but I overall love my first year experience living in Biever.

Biever Hall was the most fun dorm but it was definitely the most disgusting one as well. The community bathrooms were absolutely horrible and dirty, the size of the rooms were pretty small and had no opening windows.

Definitely! the good out ways the bad. However, this is a dorm, it is what it is. I live on a floor with 18 guys! It ain't momma's house! This is a scary time in today's world. I do believe improvement of sanitizing and cleaning of common areas, bathrooms, and hallways, especially with covid being present could be taken up a few notches. With that being said, my personal room is clean and sanitized regularly by me. I do not allow visitors inside my room on a regular basis. My time at Biever Hall, I would rate as Good. The guys on my floor are tight. We each bring something unique to the table, and we have each others back. The hall staff are awesome! Safety, is top notch! My room is my safe place. I am located on the top floor. I also have a large window in my room. So every afternoon, I enjoy a beautiful sunset view, a small perk. But A peacful ending to a stressful day!

The dorms themselves are very nice and have adjustable temperature. The only downside is that the bathrooms and common areas are not that clean. Yes there are people who clean them but even then, the bathrooms are still in rough conditions. The showers flood and the shower floors are very dirty.
