McConnell Hall Dorm Reviews at NAU

There are plenty of Freshman in McConnel as well as sophomores! That makes it super easy to find friends, some of my best friends I meet across the hall. Even thought it isn't the quietist hall on campus it works when we need it too (aka midterms and finals)!! Plus we have our own printer, not all halls have those.

At first living in McConnell wasn't all that bad, but now that we are in the middle of the semester, people just do not know how to act. It has nothing to do with the building staff, mainly the residents. People are kind of loud at night and it can get messy in the bathrooms and hallways.

The floor that I am on is not too dirty, but I know that other floors (such as the third floor) pizza boxes and personal trash is put inside the bathroom trash cans instead of being taken out. I feel really bad for the cleaning crew. The bathrooms are pretty okay but sometimes the corners of the shower are dirty with lint and girls leave their hair on the sides of the shower hair. The Study lounge is clean. There is only one kitchen which gets really full and sometimes people do not clean up after themselves.

So far it has been good, everyone seems to be really nice and helpful. It does get rather hot in my room, there is no air conditioning in the building. Be sure to bring a fan to put in the window, it works to keep the room cool.

This hall is far South compared to most areas of campus but not that bad if you enjoy walking. The building is very odd shaped and can be very confusing. Overall I don't think McConnell is a terrible dorm for first year students.

I liked living at McConnell hall because it was a little separated from the rest of campus. I also liked the layout of the hall and I think that helped with noise because I never heard other rooms. Other doors had so many floors and backed up elevators, but McConnell didn't.

Rooms were clean and bathrooms were kept up most of the time. Far away from most building, but bus stop was close. Girls and boys were on separate floors so I had privacy. Common areas were always super busy. Food near by was OK.

McConnell Hall can be very confusing but you end up figuring your way through. Most people are fun and nice to hang around but be careful for some not so nice neighbors. In my experience this dorm is pretty cool the location is a bit farther from main campus but you can make it work.

McConnell is not the best, the layout is ridiculous and the rooms are super small. They are very outdated and the sinks break constantly. The hall is also the furthest away from the student union and all of the other campus resources and food options. It is a 20 minute uphill walk to central campus. The common areas are closed due to Covid when other dorms have theirs open. The laundry machines barely work and cost 1.25 each.

The dorm was a great place to meet new people, the lobby area had new furniture and the staff was always cool about letting us be a little loud. The bathrooms were pretty much always kept super clean as was the rest of the building. The kitchen was decent enough and the laundry room nice.

McConnell Hall is great if you like to meet a lot of new people. It can be quite noisy because of all of the socialization so if you like a quiet space, I do not believe this is the dorm for you.The bathrooms are shared between about 30 students. There is a laundry room and two kitchens for the entire dorm. The staff are really nice and always willing to chat or help students out.

I was a freshman living in McConnell hall last year. The place where it was at was very inconvenient because my classes were all on the other side of campus. The bathrooms were not always cleaned and the fire alarms went off at least every other day and late at night too. The staff was very nice and friendly but the halls were always so noisy and there was always suspicious stuff happening around the dorm. It was convenient to get food and to play soccer at the soccer fields.

McConnell is definitely not the quietest but also is not loud to the point where its annoying at night. The students that live there are actually quite nice and fun loving people who enjoy socializing. I am genuinely enjoying my experience I just wish it was not located far from most other dorms.

I had so much fun but the dorm was not the nicest. There was constant noise, maitenence issues as well as heating and cooling issues. People were nice, people were crazy. The fire alarm went off three times a week without fail. It was nice considering it was an old dorm

It was good and I definitely recommended to everyone that goes to Northern Arizona University. The hall is very clean and common areas are great. Also very close to food areas which is nice so you do not have to walk far.

Met some cool people there but not ideal due to location and lack of an elevator when I was there. Would not have been my first choice. bathrooms often had hair all over them or trash/and filth everywhere

McConnel Hall is actually super quiet which is a huge plus when studying although when it comes to the bathrooms they could clean a little more often. I had a leaky sink and it took them a couple days to fix it but they got it done. Location is great it is right next to a Starbucks and next to the dining hall which is awesome. It is far away from parking garages though. Overall I would give McConnel a 8/10 when it comes to dorms.

Overall My experience at McConnell Hall has been pretty good. It is never too loud except for the occasional laughing or loud talking from other students. It was never too hot at the beginning of school but now it has gotten pretty cold and our heater isn't working. For a while the showers on my floor were broken, and it took forever for them to be fixed but now that they are, they are much nicer. The people here are amazing my RA does what she can to form a community considering there are restrictions because of Covid-19. She is constantly coming up with activities for us and the whole building had a movie night outside on the front lawn.

McConnell is a really old building, the floors are set up in a pretty confusing way as well. My dorm was up a small set of stairs but we were technically the first floor. The staff who cleaned the dorm were great, they were really nice and always working hard, but I think the bathrooms in particular still always ended up being pretty gross.

McConnell Hall was an interesting experience. I loved the chaotic atmosphere almost every minute of the day. However, the constant fire alarms and loud noises made it hard to study. Would definitely go back.
