Sechrist Hall Dorm Reviews at NAU

As a freshman living in Sechrist Hall I love it. For the reasons being how close it is to local bus stop as well as the campus bookstore and postal office, it is walking distance to the student Union and many local buildings. It has a beautiful scenery and the COCO community is very engaging and thoughtful to the residents by coming up with ideas to get everyone out and socializing which is very important. The RA’s are kind and helpful when it comes to any situation and are able to provide anyone with resources.

My experience at Sechrist is going well. The rooms are small and the typical dorm rooms you would see in a movie. It’s a great distance to the dining hall, bus stop, and bookstore. If I were to rate it, it’s a 7/10.

They overbooked and put three of us in a two person room which was comparable to living in the barracks. A wild experience but you make great memories for that reason. It's pretty gross overall but the community bathrooms are still better than other dorms because there's all an girls floor and you get extra showers + no stinky dudes.

Sechrist hall was an amazing experience. I would say the staff was really fun and engaging. It was a pretty quiet hall which was nice especially when it came to studying. The bathrooms were not the cleanest but that speaks more about the residents than the custodial staff. The hall was in central campus so you were close to the main building and dining area.

In my opinion, Sechrist Hall at NAU is a perfect dorm to live in for your freshman year. It is right in the middle of campus, making it easy to walk to the dining hall, classes, bus stops, and many more. Additionally, it has a parking garage very close by, which is beneficial if you have a car during the snowy winter months. The bathrooms were cleaned very regularly, and each floor alternated between boys' and girls' dorms, so you never had to worry about sharing the bathroom with the opposite gender. There were many washers and dryers that worked well, and it was always super easy to find and get help with whatever you needed. Overall, I would totally recommend Sechrist Hall for incoming freshman, for there is truly nothing bad I can say about it!

Everything is mostly great at Sechrist, the only real trouble I experienced in my time there was the water pressure and heat. At one point the pressure became so bad showering was almost impossible, and the heat in the water was out for about the last 2-3 months of my spring semester, which caused me to use the gym to shower. Other than those issues, I would say Sechrist was a great place to meet new friends.

The CA's do not enforce any rules really. This dorm is for people who party and have no respect for others. In my time here the bathroom was always trashed and people put holes in the wall. The hallways always had food on the floor and the janitors did not clean it up until later. People always broke the exit signs and the CA's would get upset but they would not do anything about it.

I have loved it hear. It is close to food and close to a main road that goes into town. There is good parking close to the dorm and easy access to the roads. There is a great view from all sides of the building as well as there is a wonderful lounge area on the lobby floor.

It’s honestly been pretty great. I have made a ton of friends here. It’s also fairly central campus which makes it very nice to go to in person classes. The RA’s seem to care a lot about their job as well.

I recently moved out of Sechrist, but just because of Covid reasons. It was definitely smaller than I expected, and depending on where you are in the hall, the bathrooms are sometimes far away, but like any dorm. It wasn't a bad experience for me, the people were nice and the building is kept clean. They do talk to people who are being loud so that was nice. There is a quiet time policy as well. Overall, not a bad dorm to stay in. I also like that NAU houses you in dorms that are with your same majors, which also means that they are closer to classrooms that you will be going to because of your major.

It was a quiet place to live and I enjoyed it very much. If living in the corner dorm though you can hear everyone pass from exiting the elevator or bathroom. I enjoyed living on the first floor but I think I would have enjoyed it more and felt more safe in higher levels.

My experience at Sechrist was pleasant. It was kept pretty clean and was moderateley quiet, especially on my floor. The RA's were very nice and always checked in on us in our rooms and organized activities for the floor to do together.

I lived at Sechrist Hall my freshman year of college and I loved how it was in the middle of campus. Also, it was really close to the union which is where there are food places to eat. All of the staff were really nice and were welcoming especially whenever I would enter the building and when I first arrived there. The RA's were really cool and nice too.

My residence assistant is very nice and she knows what the rules are so she does enforce. It has a convenient location because there is the “Spot” where the food is. There is also a close bus stop. I can also walk to the post office in less than 5 minutes.

My experience at Sechrist Hall was good and bad. The good part of it was that the people are nice and I met some really good friends here. The bad part of was that I had to move out to another floor because it was too loud and my roommate wasn't the best.

Sechrist was a large dorm with a good amount of students. The rooms were small and shared with one other person. Bathrooms and showers were shared with the floor that you were living on. Different floors were either labeled as female or male. There weren't many common areas. Most were on the bottom floor and didn't offer a lot of room for all the students that lived there. Overall, it wasn't terrible. I would say pretty average for a dorm. There are definitely better dorms on campus though.

My experience at Sechrist hall was not good. The people that helped maintain the building did a fantastic job, or as best as they could considering circumstances. The dorm was the staple of college experiences you would see within a movie. It was the loudest and wildest dorms on campus which is what led to me transferring schools.
