Couch Center Dorm Reviews at University of Oklahoma

welcoming environment however the cleanliness of building was horrid, mold everywhere, air filters not changed in years, many sick people due to lack of maintenance, cheap and flimsy furniture, the housing department itself was difficult to navigate and engage with.

My short-lived stay at Couch Center was quite an experience. The building was extremely taken care of, clean and pristine. However, it felt like some background of a 70s show. It was quite in need of an update, but I guess that's just my HGTV skills talking. Additionally, the room next to mine was awful. They would be up until 4 A.M every other night yelling and making my walls vibrate. My suitemates also took advantage of my need to keep things clean. They would let the trashcan in the bathroom overflow until I took it out. I suppose my dorm life wasn't awful, but it wasn't life-changing either. The distance between the dorm and class buildings was pretty fair, as long as it did not rain unexpectedly. Overall, the dorm was pretty good though, just very small, it just kind of felt like a prison cell.

I loved living in the dorms but our bathroom was often broken and not usable. When we called maintenance it would take them days to get there so we would have to go downstairs to the bathroom. Other than that, I enjoyed being around people all the time and having things to do.

pretty clean, cleaners come every morning and clean common areas. Has a nice study lab with huge whiteboards and brand-new computers/monitors. Requires ID to get into dorm halls. Pretty quiet considering the amount of residents. Quiet hours enforced. Mask policy in place. Purell dispensers available on every floor. Has lobby area with piano and located right outside couch restaurant building. Has clean public restrooms but the actual dorm bathrooms could use a little updating, some storage would be nice but caddy's work well.

The common areas are very nice. It includes a computer lab with a 3D printing room, brand new computers and monitors. There is also Couch Express an area to get a snack or grilled cheese. There is a lounge area in the lobby as well with lots of seats and a piano. It is right next to couch restaurants, a dining hall with an all you can eat chic-fil-a. It is slightly further away from the other two freshmen residence halls on campus but not by much. the campus is not staffed enough to up cleaning protocols as they said they have. The dorms have movable furniture which is nice because you can chose your layout. They did install air purifiers in every room to help with covid. The laundry room needs more cleaning and doesn't have enough washers and driers. It doesn't have cinder block walls which is nice, the dorm room, once decorated has a home-y feel. Wish there were cabinets in the bathroom but I bought my own storage caddy which works. The halls are relatively quiet during study times and sleep times.

The dorm room itself is small, but cozy. The real issue is the AC units, that don't change despite being set at a breezy 68.1 degrees, and the small, cramped bathroom shared with 3 other people. Couch express is a nice bonus though.
