Colby Hall Dorm Reviews at RIT

Great community and RA (obviously this could change every year), and the hall itself is not bad at all. Maintenance gets done when it needs to be, and while nothing is ever perfect in a dorm hall, there's not much wrong with Colby, and the location is great because it's the closest to the Quarter Mile and one of the closest to Grace Watson Hall.

Colby Hall at RIT is a cacophany of international, minority, & students of all backgrounds. It is a residence hall in which one has a barrel of laughs with another or a quaint conversation, enjoying the tranquility of each floor.

During my experience at Colby Hall, I was a part of the special interest group, Unity House. Although the community and impact that it had on the people on-floor was great, it was often the root of a lot of noise. Colby Hall as a whole is not a very well maintained residence hall when compared to other dormitories that also reside on campus. The stair wells are often messy, there is not much care given to the floors and their cleanliness. Bathrooms have had frequent issues such as stall doors that have been unable to lock properly and soap dispensers that have been left empty for weeks. Where there is redemption for the residents at Colby Hall is that the dorms are well-spaced and allow a lot of room for students to be creative and adapt their rooms to their liking. Many residents on-floor have taken to putting up posters or decorations, even going as far as to hang colorful LED lights around the ceiling. In general, it is not the worst residential building to live in, yet I do not recommend other students looking for housing at RIT to apply for Colby Hall unless they have no issues with the inconveniences that may follow.

Colby is a fairly safe and quite dorm on weekends it gets slightly hectic as every college gets. The rooms are fair size considering that I only have one roommate. The only thing that I would want to change about Colby is the bathroom and give most students their own private bathroom.

Colby is one of the bigger dorms on campus. My first time moving into Colby dorm hall I was introduced to a lot of people an was able to make new friends that share the interest me as well as our major was the same.

Colby was possibly the BEST dorm experience I ever had. 10/10 recommend, if you can get into Colby Hall, DO IT!! The rooms are a great size, the common areas are absolutely amazing, and I felt completely safe during my time there!

It was an okay experience. The living area had enough space to work on. The light was a bit bright and the closet could use a bit more space. The restrooms and showers were relatively clean, but sometimes it was very dirty. Housekeeping cleaned only once a week. The place was conveniently near the computer lab and a place to get food.
