Josephine Louise Dorm Reviews at Tulane

I like living in a historic building. JL was built in 1918 as a quarantine building for the infuenza pandemic and is now Tulane's only all girls dorm. There are sinks in the rooms, which is very nice, and the closets are huge and built in. I'm also part of a residential learning community for women in STEM, which has been really fun. It's pretty quiet, but it is definitely not ADA accessible.

JL wasn't my first choice, but I ended up really loving it. It's quiet with huge rooms and plenty of study space. The downsides are that it's far away from many other dorms and on the edge of campus, and the process of inviting boys over is a bit annoying.

It is the only all-girls dorm on campus and it is beautiful! When you first walk in you are treated to a huge "ballroom" which is more often used for studying. The kitchen was so small that air circulation was an issue. You couldn't stay in there for long periods of time if you were using the stove.

There are many pros and cons to JL. It was quiet when needed which was nice, but definitely a farther walk to other dorms and class buildings compared to the other freshman dorms. Its location on Broadway was nice for some situations as well.

JL is a nice dorm that's super clean and spacious compared to most other dorms on campus, but it's at the far end of campus. The rooms are large with their own sink and huge closets, and there was never a noise problem. If you don't mind living in an all-girls dorm, I'd say it was a great place to live.
