Glacier Point Dorm Reviews at UC Merced

It's probably the most active building given that it's the biggest building so this cause it to be hard to find and open space but it usually very clean thanks to the staff. The placement of the building is also nice because of proximity to the classes and it being in front of the bigger dinging hall

I would say my stay at glacier point was not ideal ultimately because of my room location which was right next to the elevator and lounge so there was much foot traffic and also due to my neighbors and people on my floor who were very loud and would leave trash everywhere. I liked the location because it was not too far from classes and dining hall so that was convenient but glacier point is known to be a very popular building with many people gathering, even people that did not live in the building.l

Glacier point certainly holds a reputation for housing the worst and rowdiest students. Living there myself, I was able to find a nice community of delinquents to hang out with, but that might not be everyone's cup of tea. Broken down washing machines and drinking fountains are a common sight, and the wireless connection leaves much to be desired

I was a bit lucky and lived on the 6th floor so it was much more quieter than all the other floors, but students act very mature, especially late at night. there are some good study lounges that I always found helpful, and staff and maintenance are always extremely kind.

These dorms were new and nicely furnished. Sometimes the bathrooms were really messy but that was the residents' fault, not the cleaning staff. There was a bit of noise, but that's because they were still working on the 2020 project.

Living at a dorm with classes really nearby is life-changing. Not only that but the fact that the cafeteria was literally across the dorm too. Overall, super convenient. Not only that but staff would clean the bathroom very regularly and vacuum the hallway floors, making it a very clean environment.

From the beginning, we got to create a good community so I had a good experience with floormates. Everyone was very respectful and mindful of quiet hours and finals study time. The staff was friendly as well and made it very welcoming and somewhat of a home.

My experience at Glacier Point was incredible. At times being an incoming freshman can be hard, in matter that making new friends can be intimidating. However, the environment and setup at Glacier Point made it a lot less daunting to make new friendships. The RA's at Glacier Point also made everyone on the floor included and made it seem like a community where we can all rely on one another. Overall I am extremely grateful and thankful to have lived at Glacier Point because it has brought me lifelong friendships with the people I met.

It was a pretty fun time all around. Everyone in the dorms were nice and the staff was helpful. Though the bathrooms were often dirty and honestly that was the main issue the bathrooms. The room sizes were pretty nice as well. For the most part they were duo rooms meaning 2 per room. I would say there was exactly enough space for 2 people in the dorms any more than that and it wouldn't be able to fit anyone. The lounges were very nice as well especially the smaller ones off to the side. They were perfect for studying and getting away from the dorm if you needed to.
