John Buckley Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UConn

Buckley was an excellent place to live for my freshman year at UConn. I thoroughly enjoyed the room space, the facilities, and the staff. As well, the location was perfect as it is directly adjacent to Storrs center and near South dining hall.

It was my freshman year dorm and first on campus experience. It had a great community of freshmen honors students, and I think that was the biggest advantage. I made friends with a lot of people on my floor, as a lot is limited now with COVID.

The Residence hall was well kept but outdated. It had a dining hall but the dining hall was closed on the weekends which proved to be more of an inconvenience. The only classes it was near were the fine arts classes, so being an engineering major it took 10-20 minutes to get to class. It was near Storrs center. At first I thought this would be useful, but then I only ended up needing to go into Storrs center under 10 times throughout the semester. My floor was full of potheads and the floor was almost always smelled like weed. The heating in my room was broken, so it blasted throughout the winter at like 80 degrees with no way to turn it off. The air was so stuffy hot. On the plus side, the rooms were a decent size. The size did not end up cancelling out all of the other negative experiences. Overall, 1.5 out of 5 stars would not live there again or recommend to a friend. Plus, the dining hall only had food that I never heard of, so I would always have to walk to a further dining hall to eat some quality food.

It was very good. It has everything you would ever ask for. It's very clean and it's in a good location compared to everything on campus. The people were also very friendly. And the RAs are super helpful as well.
