VANN HALL Dorm Reviews at Southern Miss

I LOVE Vann Hall!! It is one of the nicest dorms I have ever seen and each room comes with its own private bathroom!! It is super spacious and very conveniently located in campus with even the farthest buildings being not even a 10 minute walk away!!

I love it! My roommate and I have met people on our floor and everyone respects one another's space and is extremely easygoing! Occasionally people going in and out can be heard, but that's expected! I have loved getting to know everyone on the floor and it is just such a friendly environment, I could not ask for any better living conditions!

Vann Hall is apart of the Honors College at USM. It is full of hardworking students who are not only very friendly, but very dedicated to their work. As a junior at USM, I can say that I have enjoyed my stay at Vann Hall and as an incoming freshman, I believe you will too.

I would say overall Vann is your typical dormitory hall excluding the constant marijuana aroma that travels the halls. Overall, the dorm is not bad, but there are definitely some upgrades that would be appreciated.

The walls are extremely thin, so if you share a wall with a lounge, you will hear everything they are saying. The dorm rooms are pretty small, but not the smallest I have been in. The water pressure is terrible; you can barely feel it. The air conditioner sometimes made a terrible noise.

It was nice and ran very smoothly, and was always clean. The bathroom occasionally had very brown water, and too much or too little water pressure. My RA was amazing, but some of my dorm mates were annoying at times. Just being inconsiderate about Covid-19 guidelines, and noise. I enjoyed the experience overall, and I believe it was the best resident dorm as far as noise went. There was a constant weed smell second semester that was not regulated.

I had a great experience living in Vann! It is very centrally located, as it is close to the parking garage and the student union. Each room has their own personal bathroom. Microwaves are not in the rooms, but there is a full kitchen on every floor. I highly recommend living on campus.
