Wilber Hall is the cheapest hall in Southern Miss and it shows. There are communal toilets and the showers only have shower curtains and no doors. The toilets are always messy unless there is a break of a week or so. The location is pretty close to Fresh and the library.

Wilber is okay to live in. It is nice to have your own room since you don't have to bother other people. Depending on which floor you live, it is either pretty quite and chill or something else. However, the major problems will be that it is located to the far side of campus, so it is a problem to get to class. However, since it is during the pandemic, classes are all online. Not only that, it is kinda noisy at night since there is a restaurant across the street that plays loud music. Although, you tend to get used to it. Honestly, it is a chill place to live in, but depending on what you want in a dorm, this is the low end of what you would want. It is not entirely the best, but it is livable.

When I was choosing a residence hall to call my home for the first year of my college experience, I didn’t choose Wilber Hall. In fact, I didn’t even know it was an option until many weeks later. I was, and still am, struggling financially. There was a point in my admissions process that I was certain I’d have to call it quits and go to a cheaper school, but then I found Wilber. It’s the β€œpoor” dorms. This was perfect for me seeing as it saved me a couple thousand dollars which put me at just able to afford the academic year. Of course, now I had to wonder, β€œwhy is this hall so much cheaper?” And thus ensues the few weeks before movie-in day during which I had to assume the worst. Maybe the community bathrooms would be terrible. Maybe the rooms were tiny. My fears were later proven to be silly and irrational. Sure, I have a noisy neighbor, but that’s just about it as far as complaints go. Nobody likes sharing a bathroom with a half dozen other people, but Wilber’s janitorial staff keeps them very clean (and having two curtains to shower behind has proved to curve any anxiety regarding the showers my hallmates and I share). The process of getting to my room (ID card swipes) ensures that nobody will enter this hall unless granted permission. By far the best feature Wilber hall has to offer is the giant closets each room has. You are your roommate never have to worry about closet space. Believe me, I could probably sleep in mine. Overall, if I had to do the room selection process again and I had the money to afford any room on campus, I’d choose Wilber again. At this point, it feels like home.
