Almetris Duren Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UT Austin

I've had a great experience at Duren. I've lived here for two years now and I feel like it's one of the nicest places to live on campus apart from maybe San Jac. It's a bit pricer than other dorms but I feel like it's worth it because you get your own bathroom, you're close to Kins Dining Hall, and you're backed up to Guadalupe St which is where most of your off campus food, coffee, and shops are located. My only complaint is that it can get noisy at night because you're next to a major street and it's very difficult to make noise complaints when the other residents are being loud late at night. I do appreciate that there's a laundry facility, rec center, and gym in the basement and that the rooms are spacious. I'd definitely recommend living at Duren Hall if you're coming to UT.

It is very chill around the area and inside the dorm. It is located at the best spot for all my classes. Almetris Duren Residence Hall is equipped with amenities such as communal kitchens, laundry facilities, common lounges, and study areas. Some rooms may also have private bathrooms.

It is a very nice and calm dorm with many study spaces and quiet areas, the only downside is that it is a further walk to activities happening on campus than other dorms. The people in the dorm are also very nice but reserved.

Although slightly further from the general hotspot of freshmen dorms, Duren Hall provides a more quiet experience - perfect for introverts who prefer to keep to themselves. It is conveniently located across one of three dining halls. The rooms are larger than most dorms, and each room has a private bath/shared bath option.

The hall was the cleanest and nicest out of every university residence hall. It is almost on par with a private dorm. I would recommend to anyone that is clean and likes a quiet dorm where they can easily study

The dorm is expensive but you get what you pay for. The rooms are nice and have private bathrooms which is a plus for me. The location is far from the main area of campus but it’s quiet and a nice walk in my opinion

As a response to the pandemic, Almetris Duren Hall has enacted various safety procedures, which has certainly eased my anxieties regarding living on campus. Even in these unfavorable conditions, the housing faculty has made an effort to facilitate safe social interaction among residents through online game nights and movie showings. During my first semester, I even managed to make a few friends on my floor. Outside of COVID-19 regulations, Duren has various study rooms, a spacious courtyard with seating, and a game room, which hosts a pool table, foosball, lots of couches and a large T.V.. In all, my experience at Almetris Duren Residence Hall has been overwhelmingly positive thus far, allowing me the opportunity to better integrate myself into university life.
