Jester East Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at UT Austin

Jester was affordable and located in proximity to most of the classes I would attend. My least favorite part of the hall is the dining hall and the meal plan. Over all, I like how it was close to class, however, most of the dorms are small and have little room to share.

Itβs a great dorm for first year students. Definitely the more quiet hall compared to Jester West which is more social, but it all comes down to preference. The staff is really nice and is super welcoming. The rooms themselves arenβt outdated nor modernized, but are the perfect size for you and your roommate.

The building was very new. It was always way too cold. I wish there were individual thermostats in each dorm. It was also unfortunately very ugly and designed like a prison. Common areas were clean. Students ands staff were good.

For the year that I stayed in the dormitories of Jester East, it was a very disenchanting experience. Compared to all the hopes and expectations of dorm life, my personal experience was subpar. Paying thrice my tuition to live in a shared 200 ft room was not ideal. The staff and people were nice but the actual conditions were not what I was expecting from the largest public state university.

Overall the dorm is not super small, the size of a normal bedroom. Halls and bathrooms are kept neat. The temperature is good (not hot not cold), however bring a small fan in case. The beds are pretty good and you can fit lots of things in your room if you plan well.

It had all the conveniences of Jester without the rowdiness that came with Jester West. It was quiet, size was decent, had fridge and microwave in each room, beds were adjustable. I could also access the dining hall and PCL easily, and each floor also had a study lounge (good for people watching, not as much for studying). Absolutely loved it and recommend 10/10.

I enjoyed living there, however, through no fault of the residence or its staff, it was loud because sound would constantly travel through the vents and the walls were thin- so I would be able to hear someone at 3:00am from two doors down. Also, sometimes other people who lived there would be really inconsiderate and leave the shared bathrooms a mess.

I lived at Jester East as a freshman at UT Austin. As somebody who does not need a lot of space and enjoyed my roommate despite previously being strangers, I really enjoyed the dorm. It was kept clean and well managed and I felt very safe with the scan in procedures especially late at night.

Jester was a really nice and economical dorm. Everything was super close and I didn't have to walk much. It was very quiet and everyone was very friendly. Cleanliness was very important to me and I was not disappointed at all.

Jester East was the perfect combo of being in the mix without all of the extra noise and commotion that comes with living in the Jester area. Clean, smaller than JWest, and it was close to everything!

I lived here for two semesters with a connecting bathroom style room. I met some of my best friends here and honestly loved my time at Jester. The food was decent and I am vegetarian so that was something I was initially worried about. The bathrooms are not that bad, I personally did not have any plumbing or malfunctioning machine issues.

I lived at Jester East during my freshman year of college at UT Austin, and i overall enjoyed it. I lived in a suite with Ana adjoining bathroom between two rooms (4 of us sharing one bathroom). The dorm could be loud at night, but I usually didnβt mind it.

It is always quite, easy for studying. There are janitors constantly cleaning daily. The staff are always there to help especially when I accidentally leave my ID in my dorm. An ID is used to get in and out so I am never worried about my safety.

It's a good place to stay if you like being close to the school's buildings such as the gym or any study spaces. The rooms are small for two people to live in. It's a good experience as a freshman since there is a lot of people in the hall that you are able to meet but I would not want to stay here another year.

My first year at Jester East was helpful in that my classes were near the dormitory areas. I was able to walk to where I needed to go in a safe manner. The surrounding places included great areas for studying as well.

Due to covid, the dorm experience has not been the best, but normally there would be more interaction. The dorm rooms are pretty small here and have fewer study rooms. If you are interested in bigger rooms, larger study rooms, and more social hall, Jester West is the better choice.

Jester east is a great location if you want to be near Mccombs and some of the art buildings. I would say it was a long walk to get to some of my math classes near Dean Keaton. I also liked the community more than Jester west. It felt smaller and more close knit. The bathrooms were always clean. I had a shared bathroom which was nice.

I'm happy each floor had its own laundry room. Although, it was hard to always have a free washer/dryer when I wanted to wash clothes. The community bathrooms were a better experience than I expected. The elevators took some time to use.

it was always very quiet and very clean and the RAs were always super helpful! it was in close proximity to pretty much everything, so it was never inconvenient to go anywhere or do anything. The rooms were extraordinarily small and the price was extraordinarily expensive, bit overall a good first living experience for being away from home.

Jester East is an experience. There is a sort of community feel that comes from spending Freshmen year here. Overall itβs a student dorm! Itβs loud and quiet where it needs to be loud and quiet, and it opens you up to meeting lots of new people. My favorite part is how you can come downstairs to lots of food options and has quick access to the track, garage, museum, and gym. Iβd definitely recommend staying here, even if only for a semester.
