Occasional noise at night from people walking by or walking down stairwell (usually people w/evening classes & only applicable if your room is right next to the stairwell). Most noise is during the day, but even then it's at a minimum.
East Hall is the Freshman dorm, so no smoking or drinking is allowed. You have your own individual room, but 1-3 other roommates depending on your preference that you share a living space & bathroom with. They also give you a heads up before Fire Drills.
Good security, there are two doors you have to get through before you can get into the building, then use your student ID to unlock another door that leads to your hall (or to use the elevator). Staff is mostly friendly and helpful if you're ever locked out, and very communicative, but sometimes it can take a while or they're deadbeat on the phone.
Close to the eatery, there's a well-lit path leading up to it, pretty view to walk at night or when it's dark and snowing/raining.
Common areas are generally pretty clean. There are fliers about events up in the entrances and a big whiteboard with campus events, too. The RAs are helpful, friendly, and make it a point to get to know everyone in the hall. Mine gave me multiple methods of communication, as there were a few things I had to talk to him about. They also host Hall-specific events like pizza night, study sessions, game night, etc. There are events to help students handle mid-term & finals stress (some of the staff have emotional support dogs, so they'll bring them in sometimes, but this is always planned).
Also, there's a check-in time if you get there after either 8 or 9, so there's someone at the circulation desk and night.
