Tyler Hall

I had a good time living in Tyler Hall at CWRU. It was definitely a very old building with need of remodel. However, my roommate, floormates and Resident Assistant (RA) definitely made my time there that much better. It was also located in a good area of campus; closer to the restaurants nearby. The 3rd floor where I lived was by far the best floor to be on because you could see the best sunsets. more

Cutler House

The stairs smell funny but probably aren’t toxic. It’s a 2 minute walk from Leutner and far from the Den. It’s a 25 minute walk from the engineering quad. The wooden furniture is old but I believe it’s getting replaced. The bathrooms are 1 per section so you have a marginal amount of privacy. more

Taft House

Taft was a nice dorm compared to the rest but the race-car style floors definitely made it harder to interact. The swim team lived there so if you weren't a part of it you were kind of an outsider. The dorm itself has been updated more than the others and the rooms are bigger than other buildings. more

North Residential Village

It has been better living here than on South side. The location is closer to the main campus as well as there are more opportunties to interact with friends and live in community without being too isolated. more

South Residential Village

South Res is a very nice building and a great community. It has 4 and 6 man suites. You enter though a pod that leads to 2 different apartments. The 6 is 2 floors has a common room 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The 4 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. more

Mistletoe

Mistletoe was a great first dorm. Clean and organized, I would recommend it to anyone! The location is great because you are right next to the cafeteria, so you can quickly go from your bed, to the dining table in less than 1 minute! more

Village at 115

Compared to freshman and sophomore housing, and other universities, the Village is a great place to live. Lots of space, large individual bedrooms, full kitchens and personal common rooms, and accessible but safe locations and access. Maintenance is slow to respond and lots of appliances and furniture is old and in need of fixing, but such is college life. Everything is also relatively clean. I wish the washers and dryers were in better shape (and not constantly breaking) and that cleaning supplies (like vacuums) were made available to students. But other than that, I'm satisfied with my experience. more

Cedar

Cedar, more specifically Storrs, was a good freshman dorm. It was quite small with 2 people in each room but if you used the best of your space it was doable. Overall, it was a very old building, one of the oldest at the university but it good for freshman year. You get to know the people that live around you very well normally. more

Hitchcock

Hitchcock is known to not be the best dorm. Its relatively close to Wyant, the gym, but other than that there's no big upside to living in Hitchcock, much less the Cedar-Mag community. The freshman dorms are pretty much the same but there are differences in cleanliness and layouts of the restrooms. So, if possible, go for dorms in the Juniper community. more

Stephanie Tubbs Jones Hall

STJ was the best dorm I've been in so far. It's distance from the engineering quad is the only thing that sucks about STJ. Everything else is super good. The a/c is nice and cool, the beds are big enough, and the kitchen is super useful. Highly recommend. more

Storrs House

Pretty mid. Rooms are perpetually dirty (unable to be cleaned because of the tile being stained), bathrooms barely receive maintenance and are nasty, and the laundry machines on the first floor barely receive maintenance. Despite this, such experiences are a part of the 1st year experience at Case Western Reserve University, and therefore is something to expect. Additionally, the friends that you will meet in the common rooms make everything that much bearable (at least if you're lucky). more
