Canavan Hall is a comfortable place for freshmen while they get to know the campus and their surroundings. It's a bit of a trek to the fifth floor if you're placed there, but it's also a great place to get to know other students. RA's are super fun and care about their residents, love the monthly events they hold.

It was a brief semester experience in which I got to dorm with people dorm out of country which made the experience even better. It was a great way for me to find new people and it was only 20 steps away from the library and school buildings which made being engaged in school easier.

Living in Canavan Hall freshman wasn't too bad, but it also could have been better. The main issue is that the walls are very thing and you can hear everything even if people aren't being that loud. One time I was woken up in the middle of the night by two girls arguing down the hall. They were a couple rooms down from me and it was still loud enough to wake me up.

Canavan Hall was a great experience. It is very close to the library and the dining hall. I never had an issue with the proximity to the buildings. There were some noisy nights, but that was to be expected! I am a light sleeper, so it seemed like more of a big deal to me than it probably did for others. The rooms were very large and connected to a private bathroom which was really convenient. I am very lucky to have had a positive dorm experience!

My experience when I was a freshman at Canavan. I was on the 4th floor, it was nice getting to know people on my floor when we had little events in our lodge that our RA would set up. Once you make friends in Canavan it's like having different roommates (fun/annoying ones). The friends I made lived on different floors we would sometimes chill in the lodge (do homework together or play games). Me and my roommate were friends at first, until the next semester. (Sometimes that happens and it's fine!) We had suite roommates. It was tough at first cause we all shared a bathroom and sometimes it's gross. But we set rules on who cleans it to make sure we are all satisfied. As freshmen it's your first time being away from home and having to do everything for yourself, just make sure you set rules with the people your living with so you won't feel uncomfortable! Other than that have fun!

RA's would never take action when residents blatantly smoked enough weed to stink up the entire hallway. In my experience, my floor's common area was often filled with other loud residents (the RA's would never say anything about the noise level), also quickly dirtied by other residents, and most often the sink was caked in old food.
