They put my roommate and I in one of the forced doubles and did not let us switch even though there were standard double rooms open. We basically lived in a shoebox so small that only one person could stand in the walk path of the room. It was not even wide enough to have two people stand side by side. Never again. more

The Midtown Hotel

If you get assigned to the Midtown Hotel as a freshman at NU, especially a room on the 1st floor facing the alley, I'm sorry. This "overflow" housing option a half-mile from campus should be put out of service, especially for the price. First floor rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are old and dirty, and if you back up to the alley, you'll enjoy the smell of pot all day and the sounds of people fighting - and singing - at all hours of the day and night. The rooms are sweatboxes and random parkers in the hotel garage have access to the hallways, which doesn't feel safe. The worst part is the isolation - you are far from campus, have no natural spaces to interact with your classmates, and can't even put a whiteboard on your door to communicate with other students. It's nothing like a typical first-year dorm experience. more

West Village A

The proctors are very frustrating to deal with, and it is quite the process signing somebody into your dorm. Overall it is a very nice space and the utilities are great, and the common area of the room is spacious and wide. The RAs are typically chill. It is very nice being able to submit a word order and have a qualified employee come and check out the issue. more

A safe dorm with large bedrooms and nice kitchens. The bathrooms are a bit small and the furniture is not very comfortable. Overall, a nice dorm in a great location with good maintenance staff and nice staff. more

West Village F

There are huge windows which makes the space very bright. we have had some issues with walls/windows leaking water, but otherwise no true issues. The walls are rather thin, so make sure you live with people who can be quiet when you need to study or sleep. The bedrooms and bathrooms are a good size. more

Burstein Hall

Ant infestation & signs of rats. Rust in the bathroom. The oven is finicky and smells of gas. Reasonably spacious, though. Next to a main road, people blast music a lot. No AC, which is miserable in the warmer months. more

Overpriced to live in a small apartment without a living room. Cramped, no windows in common spaces so it is quite dark and dingy. The kitchens do not have great ventilation either so the smoke alarm goes off quite often in the building. We also had a couple instances with mice, but that's Boston. more

West Village South

This is a really great apartment building (West Village A South) to live in if you have a good selection number. It is a bit on the expensive side, so keep that in mind when selecting a place to live. I live in a triple apartment, with a double and a single bedroom. It is incredibly spacious, and it is on the rounded part of the building, so the living space is filled with light because the windows are so large. You will have air conditioning, a dishwasher, and a garbage disposal. The water pressure in the showers is amazing - I've never had a shower with better water pressure! There is laundry on the first floor, and there are plenty of machines (seven washers, eight dryers I believe). There is a stairwell you can take to the upper floors, or there are two elevators you can take. They're incredibly easy to find. The building is close to the MFA Green Line stop, giving easy access to get into the city. I typically take the T to Stop and Shop for groceries, which takes about two-three minutes. It's around a 15 minute walk, so not bad at all. Having a kitchen is such a lifesaver. I definitely recommend this building!! more

West Village C is one of the best places to live on campus. The only downside is that, unlike other West Village Halls, there is no public bathroom on the first floor(only one that's connected to the classroom on the first floor and is usually locked). more

West Village H is a good dorm. I was in an apartment-style suite with 4 other students - all in single rooms. The apartment was spacious and clean. The kitchen had cabinets and a closet so there was a lot of space. The living room had big windows which was nice. more

Westin Copley Place, Boston

It was a clean place with a greater amount of amenities as opposed to regular dorms. Furthermore the building had common study areas on multiple floors which aided greatly in terms of forming study groups. more

I had a unit facing the pool and it was quite noisy. I heard loud music often. People were usually out there at night past the specified pool hours and would talk and laugh loudly. The hallways were dirty and many lightbulbs burned out and never replaced. 101 Center boasts about their "security" features, but in reality, they don't even work most of the time. The gate in the parking garage was broken for months and residents had their cars broken into. Some of the key fob "secured" doors were broken which allowed anyone to get in. I've seen residents complain about these issues and were brushed off as if it wasn't a big deal. Office staff, in general, were friendly, but, there were times when I couldn't find my packages and when I would ask the staff if they could help me find it and they seemed annoyed. Very disappointing experience for a place with rent this expensive, Positives for 101 Center are their fast wi-fi, proximity to grocery stores (Kroger & Walmart), proximity to UTA campus, and ample parking spots. more

Was supposed to be abroad with NUin London, but it was cancelled due to COVID so they put us in the Westin. Amazing and beautiful place to live, just a bit loud on weekends, far from campus (25 min walk), and in an unsafe area (Copley Square). more

This was my first year on campus at Northeastern and I would definitely say this is a pretty typical freshman dorm. It gets a little loud on the weekends, but I consider that to be normal. I didn’t like how close it was to the busy street nearby, as there was always some sort of construction happening. Very convenient location though, close to food halls and local restaurants. more

Cold showers, shotty furniture, at a price that just doesn't add up. I'm sure covid has been a factor in my experience, as there were a few things I was unable to properly experience, but overall the experience hasn't been great. Finding management is like trying to find a needle in a haystack when it comes to reporting issues, and if they do hear what you have to say they'll hardly ever do something about it. The place certainly looks good, and the location itself isn't all bad, but it's still not worth the trouble or money. more

Living at 49 Symphony gives you the feel of an off-campus apartment, but with university support for work requests and an RA. The common areas could certainly use an upgrade, but the inside of the apartments is very spacious and nice. more
