Pollock Halls Dorm Reviews at Penn State

Pollock is a busy area because it's also the testing center. It tends to be noisy for that reason, but the location makes up for a lot of the downsides. It should be equipped with A/C for hot summer days, but sadly it's not.

Location is close to the IM building and the main eatery. Easy to walk to town and to all classes. the creamery is nearby and delicious. The food is good. I ate at Pollock most of the time. Close to the East dorm where a lot of other freshman lived.

Pollock is kind of considered the "ghetto" of Penn State campus. The dorms are the worst, and probably have mold. Everyone gets sick when living there. But the people are the best in Pollock from all of campus. I met most of my friends in Pollock. The dining hall is also the best. So they're doing some things right, but they need to update the halls as soon as possible.

My experience at Pollock Halls was a very mixed one. It was during my first year, so I was around plenty of other freshmen who were raring to go party despite the Covid-19 protocol that the campus was administering. It was a very accepting atmosphere, where everyone was polite to each other. However, I believe it had it's downfalls when it came to the maintnence of the dorms. The bathrooms were never cleaned, the water went off frequently, and the power went out more often than it should have. In addition, Pollock was the only complex that did not have built in air conditioning, so during the summer months it got very stuffy in the room. Aside from these glaring issues, the experience was quite enjoyable.

It was pretty calm because of Covid, and I had a great roommate, which made things very enjoyable. The rooms were pretty spacey, but for the bathrooms they could have been a bit more cleaned (I would recommend knowing the janitor's program to always get to the bathrooms when they're clean). Overall, would recommend.

The staff were always super friendly and the maintenance man responded to problems almost immediately. Garbage and recycling were taken out early in the morning and the bathroom cleaning was excellent-always smelled super clean and I love that. The only bad thing I can comment on was the water fountains on the upper floors that had some calcium buildup. The fountain on the main floor was very clean though. I used it almost every day and the water was refreshing and tasted good.

Pollock dorms are lower quality than others at Penn State, but it's a perfect location. I work only a 10 minute walk from my room. Everyone is super friendly and the rooms aren't as bad as some people may think.

The buildings are run down and the facilities are old, but the location is great because it's close to the Pollock Commons and South Commons. The noise level is much better than East, but you still get the experience of being around other freshman, without all the chaos. Overall, I think that it's much better to pick Pollock over East. You're in a better location, you have less noise, but you still have the opportunity to experience a quintessential freshman year, if that's something you're interested in.

Pollock halls is greatly located right near downtown and only a 5 minute walk from the hub. It’s directly next to the commons where you can get your food and mail from and also it had study areas. The dorm itself is kinda small and dirty and is sometimes referred to as the poverty of penn state housing. However, I met my best friends because of the communal bathroom so I have little complaints.

Nice overall pretty quiet however cockroaches. Got lucky with floor mates as they were pretty silent overall with some exceptions of a couple days in a month. RA was pretty nice too and chill. Not a terrible experience

my experience at pollock dorms was very good, it was clean, most of the students were in my year and it was easy to travel to. There are plenty of common areas in pollock, to eat and to socialize with my friends.
