My main issues with the apartments at Shepherd are the noise level and lack of accessibility. Unless you live on the third floor, you can hear pretty much every step your upstairs neighbors take, and if they smoke in their apartment (which many people do) the smell will drift down into yours. However, if you're on the third floor, moving in is going to be difficult because there are no elevators in the building. You will need to carry an apartment's worth of stuff up 3 flights of stairs.
All in all the apartments are still better than regular dorm living, but still have a lot of similar pitfalls. It's nice having access to the kitchen.
