The dorms are nice, and the RAs are great and helpful. They could do a better job with cleaning after students move out but it's not that bad. The common areas can kinda be confusing but other than that its great

I was fortunate enough to get into a dorm by myself. The process of having my ESA with me there was very easy, the staff were very friendly and understanding of my situation when conducting housing inspections, and the community is fairly quiet.

Delta 4 is a wonderful place to stay at I would recommend to everyone. It is very quiet and close to the cafeteria. The new football field is close by instead of driving to the field we can actually walk.

My Thoughts: My overall, four-year living experience at Delta has been pretty good. The surrounding areas are clean, the distance between Delta and the dinning hall is short, and when bugs, lockouts, or AC problems arise, housing is often there to lend a hand. First Year: My first year at South, I had one roommate in Delta 3. One large desk divided us, and we never talked. It wasn't the best first living experience as I was still very insecure and unwilling to leave the room, but I did like my setup and appreciated that the room had a fridge and tub/bathroom. Private Rooms: After that semester, I decided to only lived in private rooms. I've had one private room in delta 3 and two in Delta 4. My overall favorite community has been the Delta 4 community because it is in walking distance to the dining hall, Delta Deli (a place where student can use there student ID to buy food, drinks, etc.), football stadium, and a laundry room. Building Type: Delta rooms are not inside a building. They are motel-styled meaning that once you open your door, you are outside. The only problem that I've had with this is that, during the wintertime, doors are sometimes harder to open/ they'll freeze up. I've had to get help from housing to get into my room once every year. I don't see many others having this issue, so maybe I just get weaker in the winter? Lol, Who knows? Laundry rooms: Laundry room are free to use and can be found around any Delta! It takes me less than 40 seconds to walk to the one near me. Campus: You can walk to campus in no time. I walk to class everyday, and it takes me 9-10 minutes to get to the humanities building from Delta 4. Noise Level: In my opinion, South Alabama is a really quiet school, and most student are respectful and won't be obnoxious at late hours. Very rarely do I here my neighbors or other students passing by, getting geared u for the football game, or playing or relaxing outside. The most noise happens on Friday's, but it isn't enough to bother me. Something that may bother some residents is that the walls are thin. If someone pulls out a chair in the room next to you, you'll hear it. *Note: Just now, the lawn was mowed outside my dorm room. It happens frequently, and it is probably the loudest noise you'll hear while living at Delta. Fun & more Noise: Before Covid-19, housing would use the area around Delta to throw little gatherings, give out free ice-cream, hold back-to-school bashes, hire DJ's, and present movie nights on the lawn. These are all, of course not happening during Covid, but, normally housing does try to make it fun for its residents and they encourage residents to come out and enjoy themselves! *These events can be noisy, but they don't last long/are rare. Housing cleans up afterward. Safety: I say it every year that I wish there were more lights on campus. The new stadium has been built, yet there are not many lights around the area you have to walk to get there. I haven't seen any dangerous activity occur at Delta, but would like it if the jagtrans operated longer and during on-campus events. Overall: I am happy with my choice to be a Delta resident. It's cheap, the location is good, and despite the (often) cell block wall look, you can design your space, have fun, and really make Delta your home away from home.
