Daum Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Iowa

I can study well at Daum Hall and it is convenient. I have a lot of privacy and it is quiet. I am glad that it is close to where my classes are held and it is close to where I like to eat. It is also close to downtown.

I loved it. It was a great way to start my first year at college because there were maybe 30 or so of us on the floor, so we got to make frieds quickly. My lifelong friends and current boyfriend I met in Daum. Great location, great times. Absolutely loved it. The advantage of it is location and generally speaking, because its an honors dorm, it can be a little more studious.

All the staff are always helpful and efficient when there's something wrong in my room, and the furnishings are comfortable! There is lots of natural light, the bathrooms are more than adequate, and the AC and heating are easy to operate.

I had a very positive experience living in Daum Hall. Our RA was attentive to what was going on in the dorm, and had monthly meetings with us individually. The location of the dorm is very close to many of the buildings that house freshmen classes, so it was easy to get to and from class on time, even in the winter months. Daum felt very safe, with multiple locked entrances on all sides of the building. The staff at Daum was very good about helping with maintenance issues, delivering mail, and answering general questions. I lived in a triple room, which was somewhat cramped, but my roommates and I still had some space to ourselves. The common areas are open all hours of the night, which is helpful for late-night studying. Daum does not have as many amenities as some of the larger dorms, but it does have a small recreational area in the basement that dorm events are sometimes held in. Laundry can be kind of tricky at times because Daum has a limited number of washers and dryers, but there is another laundry room available in the basement of Burge that students in Daum can access. One of the coolest parts about Daum is the underground tunnel that leads to Burge, which is incredibly convenient when trying to get to the dining hall on a frigid day. Overall living in Daum was a good experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who is an incoming freshmen a part of the Honors program.

Daum is the honors residence hall on the University of Iowa campus and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The location is great, and my favorite part is that there is an underground tunnel to the nearest dining hall which is very ideal for the winter months. Honestly have no complaints!

Daum Hall is an excellent place to live - the rooms are huge with hardwood flooring. The bathrooms are not completely up to date and may have water pressure problems, but are completely usable and are in private pods. I have never had any problems with cleanliness, staff, or maintenance. Key cards are required to get into the building and each floor, ensuring student safety. The dorm is actually closest to downtown and the Pentacrest, and is right in front of many academic buildings including a direct attachment to the Blank Honors Center. The only issue is that the common rooms are somewhat small with very few things to do, and the people are not always the most social.
